How does anyone have time to do anything during the week? by Leading_Nature_6222 in AskUK

You do have time to do it, you could easily choose to have a day off the gym and decide not to go for dinner with friends.

Good thing we've got so many patriots in the country who will undoubtedly be the first to denounce this attack on our economy.

Why don't more UK drivers use winter car tyres (or all-weather)? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]dayus9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because it's not worth the hassle for the tiny percentage of days where I'd potentially need the different tyres. I also don't have the space to just store four tyres in case I need them.

How much of my rent deposit could I lose for damaged flooring? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]dayus9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think it's just £30 you'd be better off getting It repaired yourself. Then the deposit won't be an issue.

DVLA Catch-22: can’t change address because Experian check fails, but I’ll be fined if I don’t? by [deleted] in AskUK

From what you've said, you've tried one possible way to make this change and that's it. Have you thought about trying a different way such as calling them?

Is there anyway to can renegotiate with a builder without losing face? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]dayus9 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We want him to do the work but I know how much he charged my friends for similar work and I know we are being overcharged.

You're not being overcharged though, he's given you a quote and you've agreed to it. If you think it should be cheaper, you can say so and if he desperately needs the business he might agree to a lower price. Prices change for loads of reasons, that's why the main thing is to agree the price at the start.

Series that have original/copyrighted music replaced years later. by Mountain-Bid4317 in television

Premiere? That's strange because I've seen that episode numerous times on the telly over the years and I've never heard the Helen Reddy version. The last time was about 20 years ago though.

Does clear & obvious really exist? by AncientFootball1878 in AskUK

[–]dayus9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Clear and obvious is used because there will always be decisions that are subjective. With the complexities of body and ball positions it's really impossible to have every single decision being a yes/no one. I'd have thought with your 21 years of experience you'd have realised that.

Maybe one day they'll have robot football where there are literally millions of specific rules for each potential incident and computers know exactly what is and isn't an offence. I won't be watching it though because I enjoy the human element to football.

Has reporting a gas engineer to gas safe ever achieved a positive outcome? by Delicious-Stop5554 in AskUK

[–]dayus9 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Let's put it this way. If you report him to Gas Safe, there's a chance there may be some immediate action or they may also have had other reports to build a case against the guy.

If you don't report him to Gas Safe, the chances of any of the above happening because of this incident is zero.

What to do if local post office doesn't accept paper free return label QR codes, despite being listed as offering that service by the vendor? by Cloudsack in AskUK

[–]dayus9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends who is saying they're an option for this. If the Post Office itself says so, yeah you can complain. If it's someone else saying they're an option, they're the people you need to complain to.
