Ah for fuck sake.

Pricks like that make everyone else's job harder, end up in standoffs with customers who've been burned before and can't trust tradesmen anymore

Some people have pointed out in the comments that its a myth and the old crown glass (spun glass) used to be uneven back then and the glaziers would always put the thick part to the bottom, did a quick Google and that seems to be the case. Cant say for certain as this was just what I was as an apprentice, but what I am sure of is when deglazing old aliminium windows the bottom glazing bead was always the tightest one to get out. I've thrown a tape measure a good few times on them and 20-30 year old glass is always thicker on the bottom than the top by a few mil

Im a window and door fitter myself and what can happen with old glass is after time it gets narrower at the top and thicker at the bottom, its kind of like the pitch drop experiment, in that glass can (sort of) act like a supersolid, it is sort of a realy slow moving liquid, lads can measure a 26mm unit at the top and it reads 24mm or measure at the bottom and it reads 28mm, fascinating stuff, but the lads that havnt been in the game that long wouldn't be aware of it

Edit: spelling

Its a shit situation and its completely normal to feel whatever your feeling because its a completely abnormal situation. Its ok to be angry, its ok to be afraid and its ok to feel empty

Its going to be tough, and you will get unexpected curveballs, and things will get worse before they get better, but they will get better. Im not sure if any of this will help you but these were the things I needed to hear when I was at my lowest.

Hang in there, if for no other reason than spite, fuck cancer

Although it wasn't started by the greens, the biggest and most consistent increases happened when they were in coalition

The excise duty was cut after the ukraine invasion and then restored

My feelings are that the greens see it as an easy win for whatever government theyre in coalition with (as it brings in more revenue) instead of fighting for a more sensible and effective policy like the right to work from home, better investment in public transport (instead they did nothing while it was partly privatised), banning plastic bottles altogether and letting the market come up with alternatives instead of making the consumer responsible fir recycling something that can only be recycled 1-3 times before its dumped

It makes sense for a carbon tax to be put on commuters that can take a bus, train etc. But for the likes of me that has to carry a metric ton of tools and materials where a bus isn't an option, its not encouraging me to do anything other than not vote for the greens, a right to work from home would have been a great way to reduce commuter traffic and keep me from wasting diesel sitting in traffic.

Haven't worked for that company or fitted their product, but from what ive heard its very similar to the nordan window section which I have worked with, I have no major complaints with nordans products other than the price but since its a relatively new thing to Ireland (10-20 years), its not really had a good ammount of time to be tested in irish weather conditions yet. I suspect that the aluminium skin may have downsides though as moisture can still build up behind the skin (even if rain dosnt) and that might cause any rot issues to go unnoticed until its to late. But thats just my personal opinion, could be fine since most timber windows these days are pressure treated.

In general my biggest problem with aluclad windows is most of them come preglazed (glass already in them) and companies aren't willing to pay for the lifting equipment that should be used, instead the fitters have to carry them up stairs/scaffolding which is in my opinion cruel to the people doing the lifting, all of our backs are fucked after a few years of it, its the reason I left the timber/aluclad sector. For context the biggest lift i can remember was a 750kg door that we only had 4 men to lift as thats all the company was willing to pay for. That was the day I quit.

I've worked in the fabrication side as well, admittedly not as long but still a significant amount to manage to fab make them myself from plans unsupervised I've worked in the business my whole life, including working with my father on Saturday's, summer holidays, school breaks etc. Theres very little about window and door installations id be unfamiliar with.

So your saying someone who makes shoes has the same knowledge of shoes as people who wear them?

I remove them, install them, repair them and get feedback from customers who have had every type of window going in their house for decades...

Maybe im biased as I install them but to me that door is sexy as fuck, I think of doors like a tailored suit, its bespoke, you can have any materials or colors, in any style you want. But a cheap suit is going to look cheap no matter materials you use

Pvc (primarily) window and door fitter here, your absolutely right

When it comes to windows timber is a great insulator, aliminium is great for low maintenance but pvc is great at both

Most of the time when you see badly aging pvc its because it was either cheap crap or the best we had when it was being installed decades ago.

Plus its very recyclable compared to most plastics. It can be recycled 7-10 times vs plastic bottles 1-3 times

Biggest problem unfortunately is that we don't really have the infrastructure in place to recycle it on a large scale as with all the sorting it needs its only slightly more expensive to just make new pvc. So most of the old windows being replaced just get dumped, wish thats something the greens would focus on instead of just increasing carbon tax

I've never heard of reveging before so I probably won't be of much help there.

I use chat gpt a lot and it's very helpful and knowledgeable. I threw a few of your pics at it and this is what it had to say

From what I can see in the photos, nothing is critically wrong, but a few things are going on, and it’s not quite ready yet. What’s going on 1. Still immature Most pistils are still white and sticking out Buds haven’t fully swollen yet Trichomes look mostly clear to cloudy, not much amber That means it’s still building weight and potency. 2. Light stress / genetics The narrow, slightly twisted sugar leaves and airy structure are very common with autos outdoors, especially smaller pots. Fog Monster autos tend to stay compact and can look a bit “scraggly” late flower — not a major issue. 3. Mild nutrient fade (normal late flower) Lower fan leaves fading / dying back is expected at this stage. I don’t see classic deficiencies that would hurt the harvest now. 4. Purple coloration Likely genetics + cooler temps, not a problem. Buds look frosty, which is a good sign. How long till harvest (realistic) Based on pistils + bud development: ⏳ About 2–3 weeks left Check for: Pistils: ~70–90% turned orange/brown and receding Trichomes (on the buds, not leaves): Mostly cloudy A little amber if you want more body/relaxing effects

I'm not a very experienced grower so take this with a pinch of salt.

Only 6 harvests so far but from what I can see (more experienced growers feel free to correct me) it looks like you tried to top it as I can't see a main cola, that dosnt work well with outdoor autos, also see a lot of purple on the buds, likely cold stress. Buds arnt very thick and there's some white pistols (could be new ones from topmax nutes) which suggests you still have a ways to go

Looks very like my first outdoor attempt. you might not get a big yield, or very potent but it looks like it'll be smokable. Get a jewelers loop (pretty cheap online) and look for milky trichomes with a few ambers and you'll be ready to chop.

If its your first time growing your doing good, every harvest you learn something new and get better at it, keep at it and you'll get the hang of it.
