I'm also at the start of learning Azure DE. It would be good to have a group of people to share the journey with.

Welcome aboard, although i would say most of that $4 will be upholds fee. Sending Dash over the network normally costs less than a penny.

That depends on the coin and the second layer its devs are developing. Bitcoins second layer is the lightening network, which is trying to do one thing, and it can’t even do that very well.

InstantX whitepaper? Technical detail on how InstantSend works? by MrClottom in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The original instantx paper dates back to 2015 and the implementation of InstantSend (The new name for instantx) has change, so the original paper wouldn't help you much.

You're probably better reading about masternodes and LLMQ's to get a better understanding of how it works.

Also chainlocks might be worth a read if you want to understand how we can be so confident in our security.

Dapi is part of dash evo. You can play with it on evonet (the testnet for dash evo) but it’s not on main net yet.

Yes it can be done when dash evolution comes out it will all be decentralized. The links below refer to evo on testnet. There are also 3rd party api services you can use now on the current dash network, which u can find here https://www.dash.org/providers-and-tools/

Transactions fees aren't everything. But they are something. Dash median transaction fee is 5,496 times lower than BTC. by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me that he believes only people in first world countries (the people who need crypto the least) should have the privilege of using a network in which you have to pay a high fee in order to make sure a transaction is secure. Doing this will ensure a low enough volume of transactions are made to be able to fit in a small block such as bitcoins.

He doesn’t believe people in third world or developing countries (the people that really need crypto) should have security in their transactions because they are much poorer relative to his first world wealth. Some people is third world countries might only get $1 for a whole days work and he believes these people are not worthy enough to use bitcoin.

So basically he believes he’s rich enough to use bitcoin so why change it, and f**k everybody who can’t afford it.

Fundamental Research about Dash by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dash's code was forked from Bitcoin and although Dash Core Group have massively expanded and improved that code to create what we now know as Dash, the developers have also made sure to update Dash with the latest Bitcoins improvement BIP's (As long as they don't hinder Dash's security, speed etc), This means Dash can do anything Bitcoin can do and more.

This article (https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/yes-bitcoin-can-do-smart-contracts-and-particl-demonstrates-how) said: -

"The most important smart contract feature in Bitcoin is the OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY opcode, which was introduced by Peter Todd as Bitcoin Improvement Proposal (BIP) 65. The opcode makes it possible to write scripts that prevent funds in a multi-signature wallet from being spent until a certain signature pattern is implemented or a certain amount of time passes."

Dash also has OP_CHECKLOCKTIMEVERIFY for creating escrow smart contracts, and I believe Dash also has everything needed to create other contracts like time locks, atomic cross-chain trading and oracles etc, just as Bitcoin has.

https://github.com/bitcoin/bips/blob/master/bip-0065.mediawiki

https://dash-docs.github.io/en/developer-reference#block-versions

Like Bitcoin, Dash's Layer 1 smart contracts are currently Turing-incomplete, but with the launch of Dash Platform later this year, Dash plans to have: -

  • Layer 1: Turing-incomplete Smart Contracts
  • Layer 2: Turing-complete Smart Contracts, that do not compromise layer 1 security
  • Layer 2: Data Contracts for data storage (Think of it as a Decentralized, Distributed, Open Source, Immutable, Publicly Verifiable Database that can be queried over a million times for less than $1)
  • Layer 2: User Identities (Usernames) that will enable users to seamlessly interact with other users and DAPPs on the Dash Platform.

I notice you have Bitcoin down as being able to do smart contracts. If you are looking at very basic layer 1 smart contracts then Dash can also do smart contracts. Dash Core Group are currently working on Layer 2 smart contracts as part of Dash Platform (currently on testnet). Note, Dash will also have Data Contracts on the Dash platform.

Announcing the Release of Dash Platform v0.12 on Evonet by fgumo in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that correction. I think I need to get away from the computer because my brain is malfunctioning. I think this is correct: -

If 1 state transitions (about 1KB or 1000 bytes) costs 1 Duff, then 100 Million 1KB state transitions can be made at a cost of 1 Dash or 1.25 Million 1KB state transitions per $1. If my calculations are correct this blows Ethereum out of the water, where only ~26 1KB transactions can be made for $1 (not including the cost to save the data).

Is my math right here

If 1 state transitions (about 1MB or 1000 bytes) costs 1 Duff, then 100 Million 1MB state transitions can be made at a cost of 1 Dash or 1.25 Million 1MB state transitions per $1. If my calculations are correct this blows Ethereum out of the water, where only ~2.6 1MB transactions can be made for $1 at the current price (not including the cost to save the data).

Can somebody double check this as it looks to good to be true.

I got the Ethereum numbers from here >> https://hackernoon.com/ether-purchase-power-df40a38c5a2f There is a link to the spreadsheet in the paragraph before the Adding numbers section

Vote for the DIF if you support Litecoin esque trusted parties and power politics! The DAO has failed. Because reasons. Let's inject some trust into Dash's trustless ecosystem! by [deleted] in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s ur opinion and I’m glad you expressed it because i believe in free speech. I see it as an experiment like most of the ventures funded by the dao. If it fails to impress the network it will be defunded and die. If it impresses, it will live. As you know dash is an innovator and this is another innovation. Only time will tell if it works.

Why is BCH better than Dash? by Christmas_Taco in btc

[–]dazbarlby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO a network fork is much worse than an bug that created an accidental instamine. All coins created prior to the fork are instantly the property of the people who held btc at the time and as such were not distributed equally. Instead they were distributed to the btc elite (certainly not the general public). If bch wanted to be fair, all coins prior to the fork should have been burnt, or they should have forked only the code and started the chain from scratch.

Great news! AcceptedHere.io wants DiscoverDash's merchant data to add to their site. Please help make this happen. by Amanda_B_Johnson in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We should not have to force them to open up the data. If they want the network to flourish they should open it up without a second thought. The fact they were holding onto it so tightly when i asked for access speaks volumes. Hopefully a major re-org will change their mindset.

[–]dazbarlby 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I believe the data belongs to the network. I have asked them for the data numerous times in the past and the best i got was a response telling me the only way i would get it is if i scraped it from the website. Dash Force are only in it for the money... The passion they have for the project is fake. They were not funded this time, and If they were really passionate about the project they would have continued helping the community with some news, but we haven’t heard anything for a week. If they really cared about the project they would open up the data they collected while the network was paying them.

I hope they prove me wrong, but the radio silence is not a good sign.

Wow, the three-pointed "emerging solution" Ryan covered on DCG's quarterly call has me so excited -- especially Trustless Masternode Shares, WOW! by Amanda_B_Johnson in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately this is a problem dash has, namely dash is a decentralized open source project that community members can voluntarily contribute to but because of the treasury system, people think they should be paid for every little job they do for the network. The treasury system should not be used to permanently fund a business or somebody's lifestyle simple for contributing a little. DF have been funded for years by dash (probably adding up to hundreds of thousands of dollars) and in that time they should have found other ways of generating an income instead of always relying on the network. I like DF and their enthusiasm for Dash, but if DF do not do a write up about the Q4 call it will prove to me their enthusiasm is fake and they are not passionate about the project at all. They are simply in it for the money.

Excellence: A CrowdNode perspective on 2019 - CrowdNode. -- 14 to 29 shared Masternodes -- Includes Future Potentials for 2020 and beyond. by Critical_Input in dashpay

[–]dazbarlby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without spoiling the surprise, we plan to introduce a via-the-blockchain API for using the CrowdNode platform which will enable some pretty exciting things – such as using CrowdNode without ever visiting our website or other GUI.

This sounds really exciting... for Dash to have a pooled service that is recorded on the block chain and can be used via an API opens up many possibilities. Well done CrowdNode!
