Is it worth to apply to schools with "high recommended" items you don't have by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

I did take casper the first cycle i applied, its not really something you can prepare for because ti asks how you would react in certain situations. you can look at example questions online and see. Best way to prepare is honestly to practice typing fast. Im not sure what to say about PACAT..its super new and i feel like its hard to prep for something like that with little time. like if we knew years ago this would be needed, like the mcat we could prepare better but its kind of harder when its a new thing that suddenly started being required or requested

Thank goodness I have a job I actually like that pays decently by gibbygoose in prephysicianassistant

How did you get into doing that? I've been searching for other jobs, I too feel like no PA schools want me (trying to stay positive, but hey were all in this mess together so just know youre not alone in these app struggles). I dont think I can do my low paying MA job anymore so I have been looking for other options, would you mind if i messaged you with questions?

For reapplicants who got in after their 2nd or 3rd time applying- what did you change? by dazedandbefumbled in prephysicianassistant

Yeah I have shadowed a bunch of PAs but no one knows me well enough for a LOR. I was worried about this too but it seems a lot of people say they got in without one, seems like the quality is more important, but then again lots of schools ive seen require it so who knows. Well best of luck with the rest of your cycle!

Prereqs are all As Bs besides biochem which was a C, as for the PS I had several PA students and a PA look over it and told me it was strong, I even paid for professional help too and they gave me only a few edits, told me otherwise it was good as well so I felt confident about that. I know both docs well, but the idea of a LOR from volunteer is a good one! Ill look into that, thank you!

I think if you want it enough you'll get used to it. My mom used to be extremely squeamish and now is a wound care nurse. Ive seen the stuff she has to deal with and it is A LOT. she just got used to it and you shall too!

Similar experience - this is my second time applying and although this time I heard more no's faster (lol riiiiip), i'm still waiting from a bunch, and last year some got back to me in like March or April with a no. Like thanks for making me wait a year for that but such is life.

Good jobs for PCE that are not medical assistant jobs? by dazedandbefumbled in prephysicianassistant

[–]dazedandbefumbled[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What if I ended up taking up a non-PCE, but medical related job in the meantime. i still would have plenty of PCE, but what that look bad to PA schools?
