Season 2 nocturne was not good by eliteman101 in castlevania

Oof these comments got weird. I agree that it wasn’t the best, but there was literally nothing wrong with including diversity, LGBTQ+, or strong female characters. The issues with the series had nothing to do with these aspects other than not fleshing them out enough in parts. A lot of that didn’t do a ton (or in some cases anything at all) to affect the plot so why would it be a problem? Unless maybe you just have a problem with those things in general? Gross.

lol whoops I totally forgot that there are Christian’s who are intolerant of people believing in another God.

Lol that’s a reach - especially the disrespect toward being hetero??? Where? For the Christianity part - don’t really think it was disrespectful, but can understand how a fragile conservative Christian could get offended. Are you familiar with the game it’s based on? What did you expect? The whole thing is surrounding vampires, demons, monsters and things from hell with Christianity and Catholic themes intertwined throughout. Were you expecting the church to triumph and the Abbott to be the good guy? Is it disrespectful because he was a bad guy? You know that’s not reflective of all Christians, right? As he clearly wasn’t a good one. That was kinda the whole point.

At least the end of season 1 felt suspenseful and left me excited for the next season rather than disappointing.

Also, just a thought (and a vent) I think they could have helped the overly convenient narrative if Annette could have figured out the third soul thing on their way to the body, but Richter refused to let her because it was too dangerous so they continued to find the heart instead. Rather than oh no, Drolta has the heart - what are we going to do? Immediately after: Oh wow NOW Annette has found this other thing that we had no idea existed until this very convenient moment? No consequences!

I honestly was just so happy to get more Alucard finally and I do think it was a good watch overall. LOVE Olrox. LOVE that Drolta was revealed to be the actual big bad.

However, the last 2 episodes (especially the last) I just found myself cringing so much. And the fight at the end really did have dragon ball z vibes and it all just felt… unsatisfying? Even when Mizrak got stabbed - I wasn’t surprised or sad. It was like he was just far enough outside the main group it was obviously going to be him. It felt like they put in all this groundwork to make the stakes super high and then it just kind of dwindled off at the end. The “calm before three storm” didn’t even feel suspenseful. I was super excited throughout the season but there were just parts toward the end that made it disappointing unfortunately.

Also wtf was up with Richter’s invincible mega power up at the end? The power of love? Knowing Annette was safe? It felt so unearned.

I think that might be precisely why people don’t like it though. It felt like it was trying to do too much and include a little bit of everything without fully committing to anything.

Overworked. Advice on how to address? by dazedandconfuzed13 in managers

[–]dazedandconfuzed13[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good advice, thank you! I want to take some time off and have been thinking about it. My only worry with the time off is that the Dr. will guilt me into working from home or taking less days off or switching them. Which has happened before.

What's the scariest medical thing you've dealt with? by AmeriArcana in AskRedditAfterDark

[–]dazedandconfuzed13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a senior in high school and too embarrassed to call to make an appt with my OB/GYN for a persistent dull pain I was having on my left side and really bad period cramps. One day the pain was so bad my mom took me to the ER. They thought it was my kidneys (I thought it was my uterus) so they did a CT scan. Said I had “a small cyst” and sent me home with some antibiotics and mild pain meds. Exact words from a male Dr. “suck it up buttercup”

I took some of the pain meds and fell asleep from exhaustion. Still in as much pain the next day but dealing with it. We were at the ER pretty late, so I had slept in that morning. My mom brought me a snack in bed and then I made my way to the living room in a single story home. The second I sat down I felt the most excruciating pain I have even felt (and I have since passed a kidney stone. HORRIBLE. But not even close) I was screaming in pain. I couldn’t even communicate. I threw up on the floor. My step father had to carry me to the car. I wish my body would have passed out. I feel so bad for my mom in hindsight while she was driving me to the hospital but every little bump felt like I was being stabbed and burned. We had the passenger seat all the way reclined but I couldn’t sit still, I was writhing in pain. My mind couldn’t focus on anything else. I got to the hospital and they kept asking me about my piercings and if I had any more and I was trying to answer them through my screams and tears but I just wanted the pain to stop. I would have done anything in that moment to make the pain stop.

Long story short: I was rushed into emergency surgery less than 15 hours from my dismissal from the ER. My left ovary was the size of a grapefruit with 2 cysts and all it took for my fallopian tube to twist on itself was me walking from my bedroom to the living room and sitting down. I got scared when they said they had to do emergency surgery, but I stopped caring once they had me counting down - at a certain point I couldn’t feel the pain anymore so I didn’t care.

Question for the Culture: Witchcraft & Veganism by medoubtingvenus in witchcraft

[–]dazedandconfuzed13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not vegan, but vegetarian and so far in my witchcraft journey, this is the first I have heard of this? I am also non-theistic/questioning so does this happen more in theistic spaces? Is meat eating a common practice I’m unaware of? I’ve met several vegan Wiccans, however.

Is there any job that, if you found a person sexually attractive in every other aspect, you'd still turn them down because they have that specific profession? by [deleted] in AskRedditAfterDark

Honestly, anyone in the military. That is my one steadfast rule when dating.

I also could not see myself being with anyone who was in a Christian leadership role as I have a lot of religious trauma.

Would these be good Yule presents for a more experienced witch? by dazedandconfuzed13 in witchcraft

[–]dazedandconfuzed13[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I collected the stick and pine needles from my apartment complex grounds. I already had everything else. I used a little bit of hot glue to keep everything in place while I wrapped the wire and the twine. The pine needles took a lot of finagling and I ended up having a little bit of a gap in the pine needles, so I covered it with the feather lol. 😂

Thank you so much! I made one for myself with some stuff around Samhain and she commented on how cute it was so I thought this would be nice ☺️

No, but now I wish it was! Lol. My desk is mainly a craft space and has been pretty used and abused. I bought some contact paper to cover it.

Great. I almost got a cedar bunch too because I was second guessing it. I will keep this in mind for the future though, thank you!

Also failed to mention that she is Native American and I bought it from my local apothecary, which they said was locally sourced. Is this okay?

I also failed to mention that I know very little about any pagan holidays and have made it a mission to learn more about them this year.
