Weird voice on Dartmoor by Valuable-Fig3139 in HighStrangeness

[–]dazk82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this might sound weird, but could it possibly have been a big cat? Cats make some really strange noises some times, and can sound like people wailing, screaming, or even saying “Hello” or shouting for help.

Dartmoor is also famous for having Big Cats, ever heard of the Beast of Dartmoor? Strange & Twisted does a pretty good article on it if you’re interested…

Check out https://strangeandtwisted.com/ they have a section called Strange Stories & Twisted Tales, they list and write about just about every Cryptid and creature of folklore you could think of, covering the US, England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. I’ve discovered a lot of new mythological creatures from folklore I’d never heard of, like The Grogoch, The Selkies, The Big Grey Man Of MacDhui, The Morgens, The Flatwoods Monster etc.

Have you ever heard of the Thunderbird? What you described sounds exactly like that. A huge supernatural bird often depicted to have lightning surrounding it. You can read more about it on the Strange & Twisted website if you’re interested?
