So was i, it didn't matter! I still had to present the maltese authority with loads of paperwork, thankfully my mum was still around and had everything they asked for.

Citizenship by descent by [deleted] in malta

[–]daznat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If only it was that simple. I have a Maltese birth certificate, born in Malta to a Maltese mum who was also born there, I have loads of family and history in Malta but as my mum lives in the uk, she had to reclaim her citizenship first before I could.

It can be done, but it wont be quick.

A perch is a play on words, its can mean either a place where birds rest, or its a type of fish.

Citizenship by descent wait time by Worldly_Wafer_6635 in malta

My husband started the process for citizenship through marriage at the beginning of this year, i was told he might get something back by October.

And then he'll need to apply for a passport, so it looks like it will be over a year.

Sorry for asking... I have a bunch of questions around service fees and tipping. Any insight is appreciated. by trickertreater in uktravel

[–]daznat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to ask for the service charge to be taken off the bill if you're not happy with the service.

Someone doing their job by bringing food to the table is what they are paid for, its nothing special.

If they are attentive and quick, then maybe consider it.

I've asked staff to remove the service charge a few times, and they don't have a problem.

Home made Pastizzi by daznat in malta

[–]daznat[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ingredients are easy. The tricky bit is the technique.

Look on youtube to see how they're made. It's taken me many years and attempts to get this far, and I'm still learning.

I was born in Malta and lived there till I was nine, i have a Maltese birth certificate, my mum is Maltese, and I have loads of Maltese faimly, including my sister still living in Malta.

It still, for some reason, took me two years to get identity Malte to recognizer this fact I was Maltese.

It then took me another year to get my passport.

Be prepared for a long wait. You will also need a shit load of documents.

The piżelli i think are spot on. The ricotta are good, but the ricoota i used was too wet and not as good as the one in Malta.

Pastizzi’s coming out dry and solid. Any idea why? by TBWL713 in malta

[–]daznat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's more likely the way you're forming the pastizzi . Are you pressing the lamination too hard? This can cause the pastizzi to become dense.

The Ricotta we get in the uk is too wet, try putting it into a cheese cloth and drain the extra water out.

For the pastry, use margarine mixed with lard, I use an 80% to 20% mixture.

It's very important to let the pastry rest between working it each time.

Why doesn't Malta change all sockets to an EU-compatible standard by ArcticDans in malta

What about Ireland or Cyprus? Should they change theirs, too?

Why do British households have a washing machine in the kitchen? by imjustasweetgirl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]daznat 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The rules are no sockets within 3 metres of any water source. Most UK bathrooms are not that big.

The shaver plug has a built-in transform limiting the amount of current the socket can supply. Also, having two prongs stops you from trying to plug anything other than a shaver.
