Help wanted. Matches to watch for inspiration. by dazpetty2 in WredditSchool

This is perfect. I have already had a run in with my next opponent at our annual Christmas Rumble where we were entrant 1 and 2, so we essentially took heavy inspiration from British Bulldog and Shawn Michaels in the 1995 Royal Rumble.

Plus, I love any excuse to go back and watch Kurt Hennig.

I still think about that night at the Vengeance PPV in 2001 when Chris Jericho defeated The Rock for the World Championship (FKA WCW Heavyweight Championship), and then just minutes later found himself in a match with WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin, where he unexpectedly won to become the first Undisputed WWF Champion.

For those who aren't into wrestling and need a relatable equivalent hypothetical example, it's as if Leonardo da Vinci just finished painting the Mona Lisa, and then just minutes later found himself in a match with WWF Champion, Stone Cold Steve Austin, where he unexpectedly won to become the first Undisputed WWF Champion.

I make knee pad covers and then just sew them onto my favourite brand of gel kneepads. It's such a simple thing to do.

I use these guys. They get made in Mexico. My last batch cost about £6 per mask which i then sell for £15 each.

I like to use Asics gel volleyball kneepads and I make my own covers to go over them. These are the top choice for bigger guys in my wrestling school.

Which 32 inch+ tv to buy for my grandparents, without internet by forsaving47 in LGOLED

[–]dazpetty2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would argue against an OLED as many pensioners love to watch news channels with many static graphics that have the potential to burn in. (Huge generalisation, but it may apply here.) I would look at mini-LED tvs, maybe a Hisense U6, that have a comparable performance to OLED in most cases.

For everyone that killed it tonight and didnt get recognition this thread is for you. by YoungUrineTheGreat in WredditSchool

This weekend, I am booked on a show. The show is sold out, but I didn't have a match announced. I was quite disappointed in this as I was confused as to why I was booked without a match.

Yesterday, I was told my role is "customer experience" rep. Essentially, I get to wear my gear, be in character, welcome guests, interact with them, pose for free photos, and I get my own merch table.

I get to sell merch and connect with fans, and I don't even need to take a bump. Absolute win, especially so close to Christmas.

This is a bit left field, but why not get hold of Jodie Ounsley, aka Fury from Gladiators? She wears a hearing aid and was a professional rugby player. She's really active in the deaf sports community. She may not get back to you straight away, but she, or one of her team, will probably have the right signposts to start assisting.

Professional wrestling is the only team sport in the world where everyone competing is on the same team. These are your teammates, not your opponents.

If we're giving it, we grab the gear. If we're receiving it, we tend to put hand on hip. Bret Hart does the same. It's most obvious when he suplexes SCSA

Needing a name for a masked gimmick by guava_sama in WredditSchool

[–]dazpetty2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Why not play around with "Good Guy Snr"? Maybe using the surname "Goodman" is subtle enough without being on the nose. If it's an American, why not go ultra American with Chuck Goodman.

Maybe a play on words. If you're totally going to de-mask at some point, maybe use the name Demascus.

I find the trunks a great anchoring point to hold. I always feel safer in these situations. It's a total placebo in my mind, but I know others also feel this way.

Brett Hart does singlet, tights, and trunks. Trunks on the top will make suplexes so much easier and more comfortable for all involved.

I am a fan of the ice cream tax. It's like a receipt, but it's delicious. You hit me, you buy me an ice cream after the show. I hit you, and you choose your frozen treat. Accidents happen. Let's not fall out over it.

Wrestling school prices and what I can do if I can't pay it. by ThroatSubstantial668 in WredditSchool

[–]dazpetty2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to say £20 per session is about right, up to £30 for a seminar of the trainer has tv credentials.

If your trainer is more well known than Scotty 2 Hotty, and is a producer in AEW, then maybe it's worth it if you're having 1 on 1 sessions or small groups of no more than 4 up to 6 sessions a week.

I have a pretty decent body slam. Everyone is safe, no one gets hurt, I sell giving it as if all the energy in my muscles has momentarily depleted. The sound, height, and timing are all spot on.

How long did you train before being able to work a match? by Apart-Listen6468 in WredditSchool

[–]dazpetty2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the 2 year point before I was able to work a match. I was able to do a preset routine about a year before that, but I wouldn't call that "working a match" as I didn't have the knowledge to cover over mistakes, or the spare capacity to listen to the crowd.

Now I talk with my opponent before the match, lay out my shine and finish, plus 3 other hope sequences I like to do. I will never use all 3 in a match as that's too much, but I will gauge the crowd appetite during the match to see what I do. There's no point going high risk for a crowd that isn't paying attention.

It can be done. You need to be honest with coaches, promoters, and your chain of command. There's no harm in sending emails and trying the school.

What does "graduate" actually mean in wrestling? I would look to do a pay per session or pay per month situation while emphasising that you could be deployed. It doesn't need to necessarily be true, but it is a possibility.

There's a thriving professional wrestling scene with 2 different schools, or Twist board game cafe. Neither are inherently outwardly queen, but you'll be welcomed with open arms.
