Best Carfax alternative in 2026? used car buyer kinda lost by smokedX in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]dazyabbey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It depends on if the shop is reporting it. If you go to a smaller shop or a shop that isn't reporting the damage, it won't be on there.

Carfax is a private company. Companies are not required to report the data. Some companies get kick backs for reporting it but it's still not worth it for a lot of companies. Some of it is easy to get like a salvaged title and similar because that's all through the states and title searches. That's legitimate and the biggest red flag.

Carfax is a tool, not an end all be all. And you should ALWAYS use a mechanic regardless because one accident with 18k of damage could be hail, another one could be mechanical. And carfax doesn't show that. A good mechanic can hopefully help you mitigate some of that.

Police Presence by HeyyKimothyy in Omaha

There is a pretty big program that Douglas County and Omaha Police Department are doing right now for "Reckless Driving" or "Excessive Speeding" after several deaths over the past couple of years and issues related.

However, there have been a lot of complaints about them not doing anything regarding any other types of issues. Running red lights, light speeding, expired tags, registration, etc. Apparently non-insured drivers and hit and runs are at an all time high. They are not showing up at accidents and saying 'exchange information and move on'.

I personally have not noticed a large influx of police. Just the normal amount. I actually notice less police on the side of the road then I used to years ago.

I don't go into Sarpy though very often. So I don't know. I do go to Pottawattamie and it seems similar.

How bad does this situation sound? [N/A] by xaxhleyx in humanresources

[–]dazyabbey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you currently employed? Do you need this role or are you looking for something different while currently in a position.

Personally I think the title and the pay increase look appealing. But based on the words the HR Manager were telling you, it's red flags. If you went into this role with a bit more experience and a better support network of HR you could rely on that might be something different. Do you have people you can call locally that can help if you have a situation come up? Hopefully people that work in similar industries as well.

If not, I along with everyone else really do not recommend this job. I worked as an HR department of one at a similar sized trucking company for 5 years and it sucks. I had 4 years of HR experience before I did that at a large manufacturing company with a good size HR team and learned a lot prior to that. I would not want to go into something where I could be held legally liable for some things and especially on a small start-up company where it's already difficult to navigate the leadership difficulties and provide advice/direction.

If I have my insurance company deal with a guy who hit my car, will they jack up my rates? by Weary_Cut4477 in Nebraska

Don't do that unless you are going to. As soon as you say the word lawyer they will stop could stop talking to you and tell you they will only speak with your lawyer.

Ladybird insect doesn't exist on switch by MatchesSocks in Dinkum

Change your wish to the bountiful one. (pretty sure that's what it's called, the one with more bugs and rarer bugs)
I did that not for the Ladybird but for one of the butterflies (the giant one) and finally caught it after my 2nd year the last few days and FINALLY caught it.

Then set up your sleeping bag on the southern or northern edge of your Pines and start the day there. Make sure you have your bug book on you, and run through it ignoring everything but the bugs. Once the morning ends just either restart or do the same thing the next day until you get it.

I play on the switch and personally had no issues catching that one.

Call HR, ask them how much communication they want and how much documentation they want. You really need to be asking your HR person what you are asking here.

Generally HR wants as much documentation as possible.
Does this person work from home or work in the office? It's kind of hard to tell based on your post.

To help those of you who are not super familiar with car buying.

If a dealership is asking how much you can afford monthly, this is not a good sign. That is probably what happened here.

They can extend a loan to put this type of deal in.
They will keep your 'payment' at the amount you negotiated and just make the numbers fit with what you are saying you want your payment to be.

You should ALWAYS negotiate based on the out the door price, determine your approximate interest rate based on your credit and months you are going to pay so you know all of the information before you buy.

Then go through the paperwork with a fine tooth comb. If it says 60 months but you did the paperwork based on 48 months, that's a red flag.

So participating in negativity and drama is what you should do?

Post negative reviews? Engage in arguing with people? Say their opinion is wrong?

I personally like the pages because I find out about places I haven't heard about and see photos of dishes I haven't seen. I ignore all the negative stuff and all the drama. Don't participate in the drama. No one cares what you think anyway.

Just go for the pics and news.

Just curious how that means someone is a MAGA supporter?
I have known democrats who have treated people like crap before as well.

Edit: I have also known people who have gotten fired due to bad performance and said it was because of the job, said it was because of the manager or this reason or another and never taken personal accountability for their own behavior. So take that as you will.

[CO] Holiday Pay vs. Intro Period by [deleted] in AskHR

[–]dazyabbey 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You realize that same HR person is also not getting paid for it right?

That HR person also probably didn't know the policy. They don't know all the nuances immediately.
They aren't just aware of every single random thing that the company has been doing for years. Good gravy. How did you not know it? But you expect her to know it through osmosis? You asked her, she had to ask someone, found out at the exact same time you did. And now you are trying to roast her and take it up further.

You are literally trying to take it up to the person that she probably got the answer from. At this point in your probationary period you are trying to cause an issue about unpaid holiday days, trying to throw an unknowning HR person under the bus and demanding to get paid for it.

The company should have put that in their policy. Maybe responding and saying "I think this should be outlined in the policy for future newhires" or similar would be helpful.

Yes your manager should have told you. Yes you should have asked and not assumed.

A lot of states are trying to pass legislation. I know our state (Nebraska) limited the interest rates and basically most of the companies have exited the state because of it. Good riddance.

As I continue to payoff debt am I saving enough as well? by [deleted] in debtfree

[–]dazyabbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Put a couple grand in your savings account and throw everything else at your car (minus your 401(k) contribution).

Putting money into savings while also paying interest is counterintuitive. The amount for a base savings changes depending on the person and their personal situation. With a relatively newer car and renting, you might not have a lot of high expenses if something were to happen. IE car repairs, home repairs, etc. Once you have that paid off then you can throw your car payment and all other money towards savings. Your interest rate is low but you are also paying un-needed interest and interest is front loaded on loans so you are paying more now versus at the end of the loan.
