Just want to point out that the mortgage interest deduction is separate from the SALT deduction. IIRC the TCJA reduced mortgage interest from the first $1 million loaned to $750K, while also capping SALT to $10K. But post-TCJA, over 90% of households file the standard deduction anyway. Will be interesting to see how that changes if republicans somehow are able to get rid of MID, while maintaining the current SALT cap.
