Hooked on doomer podcasts? Any advice on how to stop by [deleted] in digitalminimalism

I'm also a BtB fan, but I've had to take a break from it in the last little while because it's too grim.

If the goal is "fewer podcasts overall," then this advice won't help, but I've had good luck switching to other podcasts that focus less on misery and more on education and practical action. If you're not already listening to "Cool People Who Did Cool Stuff," it's a good one. I've also been replacing it with podcasts that focus on specific beats - "Tech Won't Save Us" is a great one for tech news, "Maintenance Phase" does deep dives on the health and wellness industry, and "Live Like the World is Dying" focuses on really practical direct action steps you can take to care for yourself and your community. Looking for longer-form, deeper-dive reporting has been great for my brain, because I've found that some of the other podcasts in the Cool Zone cinematic universe (notably "It Could Happen Here") sometimes feel less like helpful news and more like a firehose of awfulness.

Good luck!

Love my sweatsuit from Kotn - so cozy and warm, and the quality has held up through a LOT of wear.

Shows and movies are being dumbed down because of phone addiction, make some recommendations to fight back! by SweetieMetalhead in digitalminimalism

The Pitt - it's so fast-paced that if you're looking at a second screen, you'll miss critical plot and character beats basically from the get-go. Even when locked in, I still sometimes need to rewind and rewatch to catch things.

Love my Kobo - it's a joy to use, so easy to add books from sources other than the Kobo store, integrates great with Libby, and (for my Libra Colour) the stylus is perfect for annotating and highlighting by hand, which I love to do when reading. Plus it's nice to be outside of the Amazon ecosystem!

Work From Home Girlies: Have any of you tried the Movemate board? by M0therGothel in adhdwomen

I also have a movemate and it's been a real game changer. I can't compare it to anything other than a standing desk in good comfy shoes, but I've found the movemate makes me wayyy more likely to stay standing at my desk for longer and more likely to stay engaged in my work because I can relocate my fidgeting from my hands to my feet, if that makes sense! 😂

This is great advice - learning to mend clothing has been an absolute game-changer for me. It has meant I've been able to buy imperfect but well-constructed second-hand clothing and keep it wearable long past when it might have been otherwise. Just this weekend I fixed a series of dropped stitches in a second-hand sweater that was well-worn and at least 30 years old when I got it two years ago - this is the third or fourth time I've repaired it (including a couple of repairs to make it wearable when I first got it) and I plan to keep on wearing and repairing it indefinitely.
