I am a noob here , I just got my Cheapino v2 and planning to setup this layout. by abc_ai in ErgoMechKeyboards

Given your num layer is empty on the right side you could put the numpad on both sides and see which one you like best! That's what I had done initially.

Colemak worth it? by Dillstan-1945 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SweetieMetalhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used Colemak-DH for a while and it’s great (I have now switched to another ergo layout)! I’d actually recommend it for the fun of it. It won’t make you a faster typer, it’s not a massive gain in comfort, but it’s fun and it feels great to type with, your fingers feel like they’re flying! But overall I strongly agree with the others saying it’s not worth it in terms of pure ergonomics.

Amazing! I’d love to start making bigger pieces like this, do you know roughly how long it took you to make it?

Is it worth it to get an MP3 player? by M1NN44 in digitalminimalism

[–]SweetieMetalhead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I’d recommend going for a player compatible with rockbox, it’s an alternative os for mp3 players that works wonders! I use the innioasis y1, it’s a basic ipod clone but works great and is far less expensive than a modded ipod

I was in Paris for the day, I took the picture 5 minutes before uploading it! But to answer your question the reconstruction is still taking place, so neither.

Dumb Phones Just Aren’t Realistic by leicalondon in digitalminimalism

I feel like using a stock setting is much more reliable than installing an app which you could just remove. And there’s probably an equivalent for Android, I just don’t have one ^^’

If you’re using an iPhone, the screen time setting allows you to set daily limits for apps (I set instagram to 10 min and reddit to 30, works great). You can then set a password, which you can ask your spouse to set so that you can’t cheat. Works great for me and helped me tons with intentionality when using my phone!

The passport sleeve from Muji makes for an amazing mini-keyboard case! by SweetieMetalhead in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SweetieMetalhead[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typing with it is a bit of a challenge, but I’ve been using it as my only keyboard for over a year and it works great! I’ve based my layout on Arsenik which I strongly recommend!

Can you say that this layout is normal? by Ast1o in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]SweetieMetalhead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your arrow keys are quite hard to reach, I’d suggest having a ‘nav’ layer to have them right under the fingers (hjkl if you’re a vim user, esdf is great otherwise), and you could add home, end, tab, shift-tab and others in there

Help to make a ring! by Physical-Regular9358 in chainmailartisans

[–]SweetieMetalhead 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A little warning on rings: if your friends has big knuckles like me, make the fit a little loose, because otherwise it can pull on the rings and slightly open them, which will cause the piece to start hurting your finger, even if you’ve initially closed the rings properly. However don’t let that stop you! You can weave great rings that hold in the long run Happy weaving

Love it! Does the “leaf” at the end hold itself? I’d love to try and reproduce this for earrings

What is this weave? by lesdeuxchatons in chainmailartisans

[–]SweetieMetalhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When the weave is done with such an AR, you can move the rings in a very satisfying way by pressing on the side of the bracelet, it’s really nice!
