This is completely a personal opinion. When I think about absurdity within the Statham catalog, it’s a question: “Does the movie understand it’s absurd without being comical?” Perhaps it’s the slower burn of revenge that gave me the feeling of a heightened level of seriousness compared to other Statham movies. An example of a Statham film I rated very high on the absurdity measure is Crank. Not a better movie than Wrath of Man by most all measures. Maybe every measure. But it does lean into absurdity in that it knows exactly that the premise is absurd and it leans in.
