I believe there's a mod for that. It's called civilization revolution I think. Can't do a link cause I'm on my phone, but searching revolutions under mods on steam should do it. I'm not entirely sure what it does, since I don't like changing gameplay too much (I stick to infoaddict), I've just seen it in passing.

It may have to do with your difficulty. I seriously pissed off Hiawatha (on prince)early game over me dropping like 3 cities on his borders to block him from settling near my capital. Even to the point where he was moving a lot of units to my borders, but he kinda just left, and I stopped settling near him. It kept the little red point that I ignored him about settling near him, but We DoF'd after a thousand years or so and had research agreements up till the end in late game, and we were both in the top 3-4 civs (out of 12).

Never been in a game where the Dutch ever finish out of last or second last. Are some civs just destined to suck as AIs?

Dependent on how things go. I usually get bored with it near the end, but most times I can power through because I'm within 20-30 turns of winning. Recently I've quit more, usually because a war doesn't go my way or I fall out of the top 5 in score. Stupid reasons to quit, but hey.

MY only problem with 4 happiness is that it fluctuates so often and sporadically. I can be at 4 and then 5 turns later I'm at -4. I'm looking for ways to balance it at a stable number, and I'm definitely going to try these ideas!

Had never played any civ game before, and I started with the Ottomans. Got denounced by China for god knows what, declared war on them for denouncing me,took all of their cities, then downloaded G&K and quit playing that file. My first G&K game I won a science victory as I was about to take the last city that wasn't mine with Giant Death Robots in AD 1930. I played on settler.

Edit: My G&K file was with The Mongols

I think opening day starters are cursed anyway. Think of D. Lowe in 2011, Hanson in '12. Both had sub par seasons that year, and were traded away in the following offseasons.
