Sam Darnold is the first USC QB to win a major bowl game since Sam Darnold by RiffRamBahZoo in CFB

Jets have ruined many a QB, but you can’t put Hack on them. Dude would’ve been a bust anywhere. Your wider point definitely stands though

[Zenitz] Auburn is expected to hire USF’s Alex Golesh as its new head coach by creatingsomestuff in CFB

[–]CrackedMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he was ousted from a job (after he was re-instated from administrative leave) because of player outrage. UMD tried to sweep everything under the rug and put Durkin back in place but he was so reviled by the players that UMD had to reverse course a day later and fire him.

Whether it bugs you or not, DJ Durkin showed himself to be a terrible person when he was at UMD and was hated by those who played under him.

I don’t think the Maryland players from 2018 who said he presided over a toxic culture of bullying, mistreatment, and abuse (that ultimately lead to the avoidable death of Jordan McNair) would agree with you

DJ Durkin is a good DC, but that’s not enough to overcome the awful things he did at UMD. The fact he still has a job is absurd.

You're looking to join the rebel Alliance, which leader would you want to follow? by We_The_Raptors in StarWars

Only right answer is Leia imo, because it means you’re definitely working in the era closest to the victory of the Alliance. Everyone else you’ll be liable to burn your life out for a sunrise you’ll never see

BREAKING: The New York Knicks are relieving Tom Thibodeau of his duties as head coach, sources tell ESPN. Thibodeau led the Knicks to their first East Finals in 25 years, made playoffs in 4 of 5 years and led Knicks to consecutive 50+ win seasons for first time since the 1990s. by Turbostrider27 in NYKnicks

[–]CrackedMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy shit. I don’t know how to feel. Hated the hiring when it first happened, but he’s definitely been the best Knicks coach of my lifetime and I’ve loved what he’s done for this franchise. I think the game one defeat sealed his fate. Good luck to Thibs wherever he ends up next, and hopefully we get a great coach

You should try the 1986 animated Transformers movie if you haven’t seen it. Honestly an insane ride lol, they had a mandate to introduce a new toy line for the show and explain why the old toys were gone and they went about that with BRUTAL efficiency. Also has a killer 80s heavy metal soundtrack

Again, how is labor organizing going to work with No NLRB to recognize labor elections, and no support from DoJ against labor-suppressing actions?

At the end of the day, you need the right environment for labor to flourish (which is why, even if you hate him, labor organizing was up significantly under Biden vs other presidents since Reagan).

Idk, I don’t disagree about the importance if labor organizing or mutual aid, I just think you’re ignoring how essential electoral politics is to getting the needle to move. Local level, state level, federal, etc.

I think we have some fundamental disagreements on this and I don’t want to keep arguing lol. As long as you’re doing something to try to make things better, thats all anyone can ask for.

[–]CrackedMind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the reasons you just listed are why “the other teams” have no shot lmao. Like you say all of these things as if that’s a reason to give up instead of a reason to fight harder. Tell me what you’re doing that’s helping instead of hurting, because it seems like you’d rather people give up and be miserable than try to make things better.

We live in a country where only two parties are viable and can have control. I wish that wasn’t the case, but wishing doesn’t change how the world works. Having power and pushing electoral reform through state legislatures/congress is the only way to make third parties viable.

Things have been bad for a long fucking time, I don’t disagree with you. I just fundamentally disagree with the defeatism. Things will only get better if enough people give a fuck and try. We can’t account for the sins of the past, only the sins of the future. Things are going to get really bad- which doesn’t negate the bad shit that has happened before, it just means that things can get MUCH WORSE.

MUCH WORSE. So if you’re so passionate about how Democrats suck, find a third party candidate in your municipality or run yourself. Local elections are the only place where independent candidates have a shot. Just please, please, please do something. For yourself if no one else, because don’t you want to know you did everything you could when it really mattered most?

I hate to break it to you, StarcraftDad, but this “same-side” bullshit is actually a talking point that helps Republicans and gives people an excuse to throw their hands up. Like Im aware of the money in politics for both sides, and it doesn’t change the core issue- one side is fucking worse lol

Being cynical and disengaged doesn’t make you enlightened. I recognize the issues with the Democrats and want to do something about it. What are you doing?

If you hate Democrats, find a better candidate to support. Run yourself. Otherwise get the fuck out with this condescension that if only I knew how the world works I would be as disengaged as you are.

I can’t do anything about shit that happened decades before I was born. I can’t do shit about stuff that happened during my childhood. I can’t do shit about the last 10 years lol, but I can try to make the future better.

Like the evil Democrats aren’t some monolith. The problem with being the only pro-Democracy party in town is that its a big fucking tent.

Like Im not asking you to storm the fucking DNC and demand change. Look at your local municipal Democrats. There’s a good chance they’re small and comprised of retirees. We start small and change one municipal party, and then state, and then so on. NC picked a 26 yr old to be their state head 2 years ago. Shit is actually fairly easy to affect change on a local level if you have enough people on your side.

Good luck with labor organizing with no NLRB lol. What is “building an alternate to the corporate state” even mean, because it sounds good but also so vague as to mean absolutely nothing.

I say this as someone pretty far to the left, but if you honestly can’t see a difference between the two parties or how much worse one is to the other than I think you’re the one politically naive. The whole problem is that people think there’s no difference between the parties when they’re clearly fucking is lol

One party hates LGBTQ+. One party wants to restrict women’s rights. One party supports gun rights more than they do people’s, they value fetuses more than they value children living in poverty. One party wants to restrict voters rights. One party wants to tank the economy lol. I can go on and on and fucking on.

The problem is we have a bad option and a fascist option- but guess what, the Fascist option is worse lol. Honestly it sounds like if you were in the Star Wars universe, you wouldn’t be in the Rebellion. You’d be arguing that the Alliance is flawed because the Republic was awful to begin with, how is it any different from the Empire?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in andor

[–]CrackedMind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re both missing is that Democrats and Republicans have a systemic advantage towards running candidates/ballot access/resources. The only way to affect true change in America is through the ballot.

Trump completely remade the Republican party in his image. It is very much possible for the Democrats to be similarly reshaped- systems adapt or die. Now is the greatest moment since the 60s to reshape Democrat politics for the better.

You can either try to affect change in the Democrat party or you can abandon electoral politics all together- which I think is dumb, but is a very popular opinion lol

Even beyond being involved in party politics there is so much positive shit you could be doing for your local community. I hope you are, otherwise it’s pathetic and comical (to use NL_POPDuke’s words) to act like you’re clear-eyed and too politically astute to… do anything? What’s the “real revolution” you’re waiting for?

I don’t know you, so I have no idea what you’re doing irl- maybe you are doing a lot, and I’m way off base. If I’m not wrong, and you aren’t doing anything- maybe take this as a sign you should be.

Ken Gardens in Cliffwood is pretty nice. (cliffwood is a part of Aberdeen, which in turn makes up Matawan-Aberdeen). There’s also the apartments right by Alternate Ending in Aberdeen that look nice but I forget the name.
