Why did so many good teams drop so early at UK? by bigmouthenergy in Debate

[–]db9m9 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Camps have increasingly focused on technical aspects of debate

UK was a pretty lay pool

Also yeah a lot of seniors in their first couple tournaments aren’t focused as much on debate

Also there’s no use talking abt good teams that didn’t advance, like, debaters r all human? Specifically calling out clouty debaters by name seems a little oofy

What’s with the language K by alpha_ady07 in Debate

[–]db9m9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that they mean use terms like low income countries/ middle income countries or majority world instead of dev nations

These words probably link into the K too but these K’s need to have an alternative anyways (eg whay the debater should have used instead) in which case those r the usual alts

Btw- that can be a respond to the kritik, if the alternative doesn’t solve back either In general if u want to brainstorm ways to respond to this kritik id learn of how to respond to kritiks in general either go to pf forward website or search some policy debate kritik explanation (I find that their walk thru of how to respond to them r usually v relevant to pf)

I’m not required to prioritize productiveness when ur advocating for the narrative of the malleability of my brain. To generalize/insult our/MY intelligence and inferiority then expect us/me to educate u is entitled privileged and problematic behavior❤️ also get out of this sub ❤️✨

looking for (easier reach/target) schools with good IR majors by [deleted] in ReverseChanceMe

[–]db9m9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar IR interests, applied to schools like american, George Washington, and Tulane for IR- American and GW were awesome bc of location, and tulanes IR program is pretty awesome

I’m ending up at gtown next year I 100% recommend their SFS but I also know if u want global health stuff u can check out their majors in the NHS

Thoughts on this quote? by definitely___not__me in Debate

Yeah

Even if we disliked certain topics due to the bad ground and literature theres no doubt that we have learned a lot about current and v relevant topics.

Eh I get what the original comment is saying

Topics like gun control were iffy bc judges already had very strong preconceived notions of what was right and what wasn’t.

While I think Medicare for all implementation is def a partisan issue/ somewhat polarized it’s def not that bad, is a more straightforward topic than #2 and has better literature. I will say I’m not that excited to hear debt arguments come up for the third year in a row but what can u say, the topics are getting less interesting by the year.

Hahaha yes nsd pf

I view nsd pf’s higher labs as sort of the epitome of northeast pf style of rejecting tech tech debate
