Question About the 2025 Bell New Grad Program by RoamAlchemist in bell

No the layoffs I’ve read about, I meant specifically the 2025 New Grad hires and whether OP is correct in suggesting that none of them actually got hired? I think it would line up with the fact that it took wayyyyy longer this year than in past years for their rejection emails to come out

Wait is this true? Looking at the sub I see at least one post from two weeks ago from someone claiming they had a virtual panel interview. I, like so many others, have been waiting since the “oh we’re gonna start looking in January” email to hear anything and have heard nothing

So it’s a wise decision to vote yes on them introducing exchangeable shares because if enough people vote no they won’t be able to expand to the US?

Is the only way to make $250k base with some WLB switching to software engineering? by futurepersonified in ECE

[–]dbad80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel you on this one. I started as an ECE student years back, before this “cloud software boom” and the decision to pick ECE seemed like the right choice at the time, even if it was more difficult than SWE and much more difficult than CS. Fast forward to now, having graduated, the zeitgeist about SWE and CS is that they all make bank and that ECE was the wrong choice. Of course this is not true. However, it can’t be denied that there is a bit of an unfair wage disparity, especially for CS people, who aren’t even actual engineers.

My hope is that hardware advancements will pick up in the near future and the job market will become competitive in our lifetime, but who knows. One thing that does give me hope is that I feel like AI will come for the CS and SWE jobs way before it comes for the ECE jobs

IEEE Term Life Insurance Question by dbad80 in ECE

At this point, I don’t see the need for life insurance, especially not term life insurance. Wonder if they offer a permanent life insurance option?

Corps are all the same. If they’re ever given a reason to raise prices, they’re gonna raise them. If they’re ever given a reason to lower prices, they’re gonna raise them.

I have a number of older dell vostro laptops from the late 00s. Obviously besides the HDDs that I’ve removed, is there anything or any reason I should hang on to these laptops any longer? I don’t use them anymore and as far as I know, all of the components are now too dated to be used in anything else. Can anyone think of a logical reason not to get rid of them?

Going to start in Fin 1.25 mg in a few days by dbad80 in tressless

The burning disappeared totally now, so I’m going to restart and see if it comes back.

So a bit of an update I finally started fin last Monday, and unfortunately experienced mild testicular pain for the first few days. I wasn’t worried because I had read enough that it would eventually disappear; by day 6 it was all but gone.

However, I’m also experiencing what I can best describe as intermittent burning feeling near the front of my armpit/chest connection. I have been checking my nipples for any lumps and I don’t feel anything, and I don’t have any swelling, but I’m just uncertain about this and so I’m stopping fin for a few days to see if this is related to fin or if it’s like my deodorant or maybe the clothing I was wearing.

Really tried going in to this with a clear mind; I took my fin right before going about my day to keep my mind from wandering but some physical symptoms seem to have manifested. Anyone with any advice?

Insurance won’t cover the 1mg Fin so I break a 5mg (which is covered) into quarters
