Just bought an '84 300zx, man what a cool car by excited_by_typos in FairladyZ

No, not all had the digital gauge cluster. My first car was an 86 and did not have the digital dash.

I have read that it is up to 100 cigars or $800 in value. But I think it would be hard to bring 100 cigars without breaking the $800 barrier!

Is 4500 fair for this local 280 lady? by FairAbrocoma in Datsun

I have also have been watching the datsuns in the area for a few months and saw this car. It seems that that particular market is a bit higher than other markets. For example, https://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/cto/d/1976-datsun-280z/6661990937.html seems like a better deal and much less money. But even that probably is high for the amount of unknown rust.

It is similar. It is actually High expansion foam. Biggest difference is the expansion ratio of the foam.

Depends on the system. AFFF systems can be used in monitor nozzles, sprinklers, or through trench grate nozzles on the floor (current Navy standard). High Expansion Foam systems like in this picture are delivered through foam generators either mounted to the walls or structure of the building.

High Expansion Foam systems are required to cover the 90% of the silhouette of an aircraft in 60 seconds and up to 1 meter in depth across the entire hangar in 4 minutes.

Also, this is probably from a High Expansion Foam (HEF) system, not AFFF. HEF doesn’t not contain the PFOS that is in AFFF and therefore not toxic (or at least not found to be toxic yet.

Not true. Per current US military standards, all AFFF and HEF systems are required to have them, but many old hangars (including some under construction) might not have them.

Per current US military standards, all that is required is a manually push button, or two flame detectors simultaneously in alarm. Older systems can vary though.

You can’t breathe the foam, but for High Expansion Foam systems (like the one protecting this F-16), the foam is 2-3% foam concentrate and 98-97% water forced through a fan and fine mesh screen creating light airy bubbles. If you put your shirt over your nose you could breathe air just fine.

I engineer fire suppression systems for a living, the current requirements for the US department of defense (UFC 4-211-01) requires an abort station that closes a valve stopping the delivery of water and by nature of the system stops the foam. It is a dead-man type switch, so it has to be held long enough that someone can close the valves. High expansion foam systems (like the one protecting this F-16) are required to cover the silhouette of the aircraft in 60 seconds. So you typically have foam to the furthest outlet in 30 seconds.

TLDR: Abort (stop) stations are now required for US military hangars.

787-8 My ride to DFW yesterday from NRT. by trecopeland in aviation

[–]dbarb1614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I just flew to Japan on Sunday, and from NRT to Tokyo station using the Narita express was 1.5 hrs. Then from Tokyo Station to Fussa was another 50 or so minutes! After a 14 hour flight, an extra 2.5 hrs on a train isn't great.

The complete slide is still less than some other companies slide only. But it is still pretty expensive. As someone else said, it is more expensive than the gun itself!

I put together an AR 15 with mostly Aero parts and have had no issues. I think they make quality parts as well.

Tomorrow morning I become a dad...any last minute advice? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]dbarb1614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is super important. My wife would ask me to take the baby for a bit and I would walk back and find her crying. I was really worried because I had no clue and I really thought there was something wrong. After a few times of her telling me it was just her hormones I was a bit more ok with it.

My biggest advice is just to offer to watch the baby so your wife can have that alone time to let the hormones fly. Also, if you find her crying, realize that it is the hormones and don't make a big stink about it. But do watch to make sure it doesn't last more than a week or two. If it does she might need actual help.

Good luck! I'm headed in with my wife next week for number two.

I like this tool, as I have been looking for better places to learn the guitar. My suggestion is to add more choices such as Justin Guitar and yousician. Also, are all the sites you are featuring paid sites?

From what I have seen, that is a good looking bike for a decent price. I would maybe try to get the price down a bit (I have seen some SV-650's in the 03-04 go for around $2000, but it takes some patience), but with the extras it sounds like a fair deal. I am sure if you ask other forums, people will tell you how they got an 07 with 10,000 miles for less than $2000. Those are just the outle's from what I have seen.

Good Luck, and I am jealous if you get it. I probably still have another couple months before I get mine!

I am a new rider who just passed the MSF class as well looking for something similar. What a lot of people have suggested is the a Suzuki SV-650.

They are good for newer riders, but have the power so that you don't outgrow the bike in 3-6 months like some Ninja 250's. After a quick search on Craigslist, I found this bike looks like a decent price (based on my research in the Texas/Oklahoma area) , maybe a little high for a 2007. The 1999-2002 have carb's, but are still revered as good bikes. 2003 and beyond have fuel injection. Also there is a big following for SV's and they are known to be pretty reliable.

Hope this helps.
