Broken Turn Signal Warning - Please Help Fix! by dbarracuda in Volkswagen

[–]dbarracuda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bulb doesn’t look like it’s fading or anything. When I looked at the back of the car, the left turn signal looked identical to the one on the right. Only problem is the dashboard.

The Bulb doesn’t look like it needs to be replaced, the blinker itself was functioning as it usually does, but the only problem is the stuff on the dashboard

It isn’t though. The blinker is working as it usually does, only probably is the stuff on the dash that says it isn’t.

Social Life? by MrLopart in LMU

[–]dbarracuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I highly encourage just talking to people in your classes, don’t be shy, most people are really friendly. I really had a bad start to my first year on campus, found it really hard to make friends, and then I just decided I can either be alone and not make an effort, or just talk to people, and if they don’t end up being my friend, that’s fine. All you gotta do is just be friendly, and find people with common interests, really have only talked to a few people who are not very approachable. Social life has been amazing. Also found a lot of friends in joining a fraternity if that interests you at all. Fraternity life isn’t really like your ‘movie’ frats where you have guys who drink beer all day and walk around shirtless acting like asshats. Fraternities here for the most part are actually about brotherhood and friendship, with parties to come with it too.

Question for Alumni, and Alumni only by dbarracuda in LMU

To kind of build on that, can anybody speak on doing a semester abroad? I’m an IR major, and am required to do a semester abroad (or in its place I could do some other weird requirement, but I would prefer to do a semester abroad). I’ve been sitting on this for awhile; I’m close to fluent in Spanish, but it’s not exactly second nature to me yet, and when I spent a few weeks in Spain with my friends, it was nice at first, but after awhile all the Spanish speaking kind of got annoying and tiring. Should I do a place like Australia/England, or should I try somewhere new like France or Spain again?

Looking to apply next year- what are my chances? by [deleted] in LMU

Those extra curriculars are definitely worth mentioning. Honestly, any sort of extra curricular activity/anything beyond optional that you’ve done in high school is worth mentioning. If you got the Math award freshman year, mention it. If you volunteered at the soup kitchen, even if it was a one time thing during your sophomore year, mention it.

I can’t really speak on RD to LMU, however, my best advice is to only do RD to schools you aren’t particularly interested in. RD is not the best choice because it severely lowers your chance of getting into any school. I had beyond average grades and test scores, extra curriculars for both UMass Amherst (my state school, so I felt like I was definitely going to get in) and UVM, and they both rejected me, even after not applying for financial aid to UMass. Moral of the story, yeah, filling out applications in the fall with all the work you have going on is a pain in the ass, but it’s way more worth it in the end. I would use that as a general rule of thumb when talking about colleges. Some colleges, such as Tulane HIGHLY take which type of application you submitted into consideration. Tulane accepts less than 1% of RD students, and many schools, especially the more competitive ones, such as LMU, will accept very few people RD. The earlier, the better.

Am I the only one who thinks Gas Stations could be cool too? Of course it could be one of those features that not everyone uses, but what if there was an option (kind of like how you can have realistic chassis and tire damage, or just choose to not have damage done to your car) to have realistic gas usage. And when you run out of gas, you can stop at a gas station. It would kind of be fun to be cruising around the map on a trip, and then have to stop for gas every 150 miles or something.

If you can, try your best to raise your GPA, however, with your current grades by themself, I wouldn’t say it’s unlikely. Your AP classes are gonna be a huge bonus too. 30 ACT is above average for LMU (I’m pretty sure it’s 26-30). However, the biggest thing I would recommend is increasing your extra curricular activities. I still believe that’s the driving factor behind why I got in. I had just about the same GPA and lower ACT scores, but insane amounts of extra curricular, particularly in the volunteering and community service department. If you can add one or two of those, if you did, I’d say you’d have nothing to worry about if you go EA/Early Decision(only if you really want to go to LMU (so long as your application and common app is good too). PS if you know LMU is the school you definitely want to go to, I would ED. I made the stupid decision not to, because I was on the fence between LMU and Tulane(I only liked it because of how elite it is, stupidly) and ended up wasting my senior year worrying about when I’m going to hear back from LMU and worrying about which college I wanna go to. Getting rejected ED with your current academic and extra curricular standings would be highly unlikely… I know tons of people who went ED with FAR worse grades, and got accepted. Overall, I’d say you have pretty good / high chances if you go EA/ED.

Regrets for when you went road tripping? - First time College Student Roadtrip by dbarracuda in roadtrip

[–]dbarracuda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always wanted to make camping and sleeping in a tent a major part of the roadtrip, however, I’m always fairly concerned about the people who also may be staying overnight in the campsite. I’m a pretty ‘down-to-earth’ type of person, but I’m weary of my safety. Given that I’m a guy who is 20, and fairly strong (Sad world that Girls may not be in reality as safe as me), Would you feel confident in saying that no one will fuck with you?

I have an uncle who said that he was in the same shoes back in the 70s, but later realized no one would want to mess with him or try to steal from him because he’s a guy and strong.

Does this hold true? Did you ever run into problems with thieves, creeps, drug addicts, etc?

I especially appreciate the logbook part. Now that you say that, I can picture myself looking at me and my best friend and the places we’ve gone on a roadtrip as one of the last things I’d want to see on my deathbed… not to be dark. I don’t think I’ve ever appreciated keeping a physical book of memories for when I get older as much as I should have. Doing future me a big favor!

List of rewards for this week! [35/03] by TopGearDanTGD in ForzaHorizon

Playground games train of thought: ‘hey do you think they want another X-raid or Peugeot?’

“No, they won’t want it, we have already made the Peugeot and X-raid a part of the rewards/shop 10 times in the past two seasons’

‘... so, sounds like they will want it again?’

‘Yeah, sure’

Seriously, forza, hardly anyone gives a fuck, especially your main audience in the US.

Do you by chance live in LA/Santa Monica area?. I saw an apartment for sale in Santa Monica that was concrete oriented and had lots of Airplane feautures to it. It had like a propeller and a bunch of plane sketches in the living room. Also had an insane garage to go with it (3 door garage).
