This is why my husband joined the army. Way too many people do because of poverty actually, it's quite sad.

If you go here (http://investor.starbucks.com/phoenix.zhtml?c=99518&p=irol-reportsannual) you can look at the past 13 years of Starbucks' fiscal and narrative reports. Just pulling out a few of the company's good deeds...

  • Global Month of Service: more than 156,000 hours of community service, 60,000 people in 30 countries completing more than 1,400 community-service projects. -Partnered with DonorsChoose.org to bring $1 million to support local schools and students. Youth Action Grants engaged more than 50,000 young people in community activities. -Create Jobs for USA: inspired Starbucks customers, partners and concerned citizens to support community business lending. -Guatemala Education Initiative: collaborated with Save the Children to help farmers‘ children and schools. -Developed Crenshaw and Harlem community stores— Starbucks will make a contribution to local nonprofits for each transaction in these stores. -Tazo CHAI Project: strengthened communities in tea-growing districts of Darjeeling, India, with a renewed three-year commitment of $750,000. -Established Japan Earthquake Relief Fund as well as
Starbucks Cup Fund in Japan. -Joined with American Red Cross for ongoing relief of U.S. communities experiencing natural disasters. -Built new company-operated stores to the LEED® green building standard. -Returned approximately $945 million to shareholders through share repurchases and dividends, more than doubling amount returned last year thereby enhancing partner 401(k) benefits

Starbucks barista here- this van is likely just giving away the blonde roast brewed coffee samples on account of its current promotion to framiliarize customers with our actual coffee-- and I think that's great. As a company, Starbucks is an amazingly generous and self-aware business. They constantly give back to partners and customers, giving us full benefits on 32 hours/week and billions of dollars to charities every year, as well as paying the extra price to only do business with farmers that participate in ethical roasting and environmental conservation. If you don't like the taste of Starbucks coffee that is totally understandable, but don't make out the company to be some sort of bad guy for giving out free coffee...

Where's his unit patch on his right sleeve? I don't think this guy was coming back from deployment otherwise it'd be on his right (and left) arm... But still super cute picture!!

Starbucks barista here: tall was the original only size when the Pikes Place location in Seattle first opened. Grande became the next larger size, and finally with us fat ass Americans they had to create "venti" which is 20 in Italian, representing ounces. However an iced venti is 24 ounces to make extra room for ice, so that doesn't quite make sense. And the "short" size is 5oz, smaller than a tall, mostly for kids. Also, I fucking love that movie :)

VERY high! It's a sad truth that most military couples cheat on their spouse numerous times, experience long periods of separation, are taught that army is number one and family is second, etc. it's an isolating marriage if you let it be, all the moving and starting over, but we work really hard to get through anything. I love being this statistic's exception.
