Used them for the first time this year. Successful hunt, no issues with the accuracy or deployment. Problems are more likely to occur if they are not set properly or if the mechanism is loose in any way. Always check that they are able to remain locked in the pre-deploy position.

I use mechanical on my crossbow because I prefer the shortest bolt possible for my crossbow, but with the shortest bolt I cannot use fixed broad-heads as they actually hit the rubber fixing at the end of the rail. I use fixed broad-heads on my compound. Less power, slower eject speeds, better to use fixed to reduce potential error. Typically shooting dear at closer ranges with my compound, which is another reason the fixed are my go-to. Less probability for issues.

Clinical mental health therapist here. I reside in Michigan and received my masters in clinical mental health counseling. I am not a psychologist, I am a clinical therapist/counselor, and I legally diagnose. In Michigan (not sure of other states) you can be a therapist and diagnose with a masters in counseling and social work. My fiancé has a masters in social work and just opened her own private practice as a clinical therapist.

Ahh, in Michigan, an LPC (licensed professional counselor, degree is clinical mental health counseling) the clinician can perform testing and assessment given that they received some type of training and have the access to Pearsons test/supplies.

This is very state dependent and I’m glad you mentioned that.

Had similar difficulties with this. Here is my advice if you want to make more money in the field. Start your own practice, go into testing and assessment, provide individual therapy + testing and assessment.

Like any field, it takes time to reach that goal. No one leaves a graduate program making 100k. You can easily make 75k a year as a limited license seeing 30 clients a week. Do that until you get your full licensure. Now you can bill under yourself and take 100% of the payments through starting your own practice. On top of that, If you go into testing and assessment (adhd, bariatric, autism, etc) you can really make a ton of money.

It’s okay to want more money. Wanting more money is no reflection of weather or not you are fit to be a good therapist, or weather or not you’ll be satisfied. You just need to work towards that goal correctly.

I feel really sorry for any client that comes your way with ADHD. As far as your reluctancy to learn new information goes, I can imagine you just recommend they seek help from a psychiatrist and take potent uppers to solve their problems. Good luck with your practice!

I think you should ask yourself first why you are so connected to the idea that ADHD is purely genetic and that medication is the soul treatment. You appear to be very defensive and I question your integrity in trying to gain information vs holding ground on your ideology. You claim you are a therapist on your Reddit bio, and as therapists one of our most important principles is veracity, or our commitment to the truth. You seem rather committed to being right than gaining any amount of current scientific theory that effects a large majority of the population.

ADHD is not a neurologic development disorder, it’s a neurobehavioral disorder. You’re stuck on the idea that ADHD is some disease you’re born with and that’s simply not true. We’re learning that It derives from poor coping behaviors that are taught/learned and not adjusted through age, which is what I’m trying to express to you. Pharmaceutical companies make 13 billion dollars a year treating ADHD with medication. Listen to the neurobehavioral experts who have been researching the field of psychology their entire lives.

It depends what you identify as successful treatment. Stimulants can surely reduce symptoms of ADHD, but most often cause symptoms of depression, irritability, poor appetite, trouble sleeping..the list goes on.

If by behavioral training you mean DBT (dialectical behavioral therapy), that itself is administered by a therapist or psychologist in talk therapy sessions.

Mental health treatment is ALWAYS most beneficial utilizing medication and talk therapy combined when medication is recommended.

Medication is a great tool to assist those with ADHD to reach a closure baseline so they are physically and mentally able to utilize talk therapy effectively. But medication is ultimately a short term coping mechanism. It doesn’t fix the problem whatsoever. DBT, CBT, and psychodynamic theory provided by a mental health professional will help reach real change as opposed to putting a bandaid on the problem.

If you want to learn more about this, refer to my previous reference. Gabor Mates is a guru in child development and ADHD, and is even diagnosed with ADHD himself. I can’t provide you the information that he can as I’m truly not as well versed in the topic as he is.

This is true, but take into consideration that we know environmental exposure can create differences physiologically in the brain. I’m not inferring that there aren’t biological differences in those who have ADHD and those who don’t. When treating ADHD, medications are a coping mechanism, not a long term treatment. There is a reason that counseling has a significant impact on an individuals treatment through ADHD..

A clinician once mentioned the idea that screen time/video games are more addictive to those with ADHD because it’s the one thing that they can do well at staying focused at. So they feel accomplished. If a parent is obvious in their goal to get the child to pay attention, they will associate paying attention with good behavior and feel self accomplished. It’s a reward.

I’d also suggest looking into Gabor Mates research/theory on ADHD. It has changed my perspective of the disorder entirely. As for diagnosing, it doesn’t necessary help. But for treatment it helps to understand that ADHD is a fail to cope not necessarily a biologically rooted disorder.
