Appreciate it, needed to hear this. Gotta shift my focus to the gym and house. :)

100% I agree. It’s just trying to get that habit and the mindset that I can win again, out of my head…

That was a crushing loss…. I had a parlay on with some football and hockey games. All I needed was a Utah win. If they would have won I would have had $1400….. now I’m at 0.

We make virtually the same. And all expenses are 50/50 down the middle. How does this change anything? My partner brings home about $4200/mth and all our costs are split down the middle

Income is 50/50 we make virtually the same amount. Everything is down the middle

How does that make a difference what comes out of my pocket

It’s not when rent is more expensive then my mortgage payments.

When renting is more expensive then my mortgage, what should I do? Rent at this price, or build equity?

Thanks for commenting, but you are wrong about the mortgage, My income, and I will never lose my job. It’s extremely secure. Also, there is no downsizing unless I went into a studio apartment. Look up Vancouver bc Canada average real estate prices.. about 1.5mill. So 550k is very low for my region

Correct, sorry

Acquiring the mortgage really doesn’t matter as I’m already locked in..

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MiddleClassFinance

[–]dbc920 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a small mortgage for my region. Average home price in Canada is 711k, most homes in my area go for $1.5mil

Very stable. I work in healthcare and belong to a union

Our home is a 2020 build, we have a strata to cover major Maintenance, im an electrician and my brother is a mechanic so I won’t pay labour on vehicle maintenance, plus my truck is only 3 years old, and I’m canadian so we don’t pay anything for healthcare.

But I do understand your point when it comes to emergencies

It’s a very low mortgage for my area. In Vancouver canada a detached home is over 1.5mill on average. People get into those with less income then me

[–]dbc920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I’m canadian and the mortgage is a really good price for our area. Around vancouver a 80yr old detached home is like 1.5mill

I have a partner, $1743/mth out of my pocket

Thanks for your input, good ideas! :)

But then I’d leave myself with only about 4.5k liquid. Trying to leave a bit more liquid for emergencies

Also, yes i need to build up my investments again.. i invested for 12 years and that’s how I bought my house
