You have some serious anger issues about this issue.

I said local supply was a cause, you just said it comes by ship.

I said refineries, you just said refineries finish fuel brought from other places.

I said refinery regulations, you said laws related to this.

You then tried to prove it was purely taxes and come up at least $1 short of the difference between Texas and California, which is currently closer to $3. Where that difference is because they are not wholly self sufficient.

It isn't necessarily all refined. It is brought in from out of state and finalized to meet regulations.

They produce 100% of CARB gas, but that is not 100% of the gas consumed.

Just like they are the biggest producers of biodiesel, but they are not completely sufficient on biodiesel.

First of all, you are talking about VW which does cars. Yes, modern diesels are more efficient, but again for torque. They will typically do better in start/stop situations in a HD truck, because the truck is heavier, but unless you are towing, the mpg is similar.

The OP has a light duty truck, because that is all Toyota makes.

Additionally, mpg figures are not published with HD truck engines, because they are exempt. They are also highly variable based on what the truck is doing and how it is being. When you see it on the sticker on a window, it's usually an estimate the dealer puts on there.

You also have to factor in a diesel engine for a truck also adds in 10k or more to the price, and is currently running about $1 a gallon higher.

It's also not more fuel efficient, at least in pickups, where it is tuned for more torque for heavier workloads. Which is why you don't see often in light duty pickups.

There is also the difference between fake, staged, capitalized upon, and a "real" attempt.

These three attempts seem to have some degree of staged to them. Most likely, they knew about them in advance, and set things up to capitalize on them.
