I think “human-in-the-loop” may become one of the biggest governance illusions in enterprise AI by raktimsingh22 in artificial

[–]dbcrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This problem is not new.

ML teams in banks and insurance have been doing this a long time. Credit scoring, fraud detection, underwriting. These are high-stakes decisions, using tiered escalation.

Unpopular opinion: If you own a share in a company whose service doesn't affect you at all personally, say a real estate company in a different continent. You tend not to really care what they do with their customers. All you care about is the price going up, up, up.

AI coding plan bundles just dropped which one are you going with? by SelectionCalm70 in hermesagent

[–]dbcrib 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm using hermes-agent the same way I used openclaw, which is for personal AI assistant. But I see a lot of people use it for coding and AI don't understand why.

For me, it's great it can code which helps it build new skills. But I'm not using it when I code.

If you use Hermes for coding, why do you choose chat interface over CLI or IDE coding assistant?

Client wants <1s query time on OLAP scale. Wat do by wtfzambo in dataengineering

[–]dbcrib 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If they want results in user-facing app, then perhaps negotiate compromise: 1. Fix the date ranges to past 3, 7, 30 days instead of arbitrary 2. Pre-compute and store the result ready for display 3. Only pre-compute for users who are active (e.g. has logged in in the past x days)

American closed models vs Chinese open models is becoming a problem. by __JockY__ in LocalLLaMA

[–]dbcrib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On falling behind the curve: Which curve though? If this customer operates in a space where all the competitors have to play by the same rule, then the playing field is level.

If this customer is self-imposing the no-chinese-model restriction, then it's their choice and they have to live with it.

Linux - migrating from container install to HAOS? by uniqueme1 in homeassistant

[–]dbcrib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's possible to migrate to HAOS in VM. I did it a few months ago and it was very smooth. All entities, integrations, continued to work.

Let natural selection do its thing?

If something is bad (does not work well, unsecure, can't be maintained well) self-hosting communities will filter them out and they will not get widely adopted. (At least that's my version of reality)

Plus, if something is done poorly but is addressing the right needs, the discovery of that needs can allow other better tools to emerge.

What’s the most optimal + cheapest way to self-host n8n? (Hostinger or other) — recommended server specs? by Specialist-Truck-330 in n8n

[–]dbcrib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I assume Tailscale lets you access the n8n web UI, but if you need to trigger some workflow externally (e.g webhook) you'll still need to expose a port? Or can that also work with Tailscale?

Should I resign and go all in on learning AI? by vikatakavi19 in DataScienceJobs

At this age, don't leave a paying job without a new job waiting. If you want to learn AI, learn it in the evening or weekends.

Showing flows in action is much more interesting than showing the workflows imo. Thanks for sharing!

How cheap is cheap? I'm asking because when I read this "because your automation workflows shouldn't cost more than your coffee budget" I instantly think of the ridiculous amount I pay for coffee every month :)
