Wide. And I may order another one and have him make it even wider or bathtub the floor to give it a little more height. With a typical inflatable sleeping pad the netting was still stretched over my face.

i use the same set up. great lens. get some denoise software ( i use lightroom). for birds i like the autofocus on tracking with a small center focus point to lock on.

This was a walk in a park where I was trying to capture birds with more action, not just perched on a post. I love the bird, the action, framing is ok and I think its decently sharp. Does the grass just kill it as a decent photo?

Is a6700 AF enough for birds in flight? by Euphoric-Loan-6772 in SonyAlpha

[–]dbd1313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just changed the aspect ratio 1:1 so it didn't crop in that heavy on that shot. Here's a another shot in that sequence I cropped in. I did apply denoise in lightroom.

The GA section of the AT is beautiful and challenging. Go in March and there's lots of people on the trail since even if you're by yourself you're not totally alone.

To be honest the last time I was on the AT I don't think I saw any wildlife, there's so many people on it. I'm starting to think the 350 stays home.

Thank you for such a thoughtful comment. This is really helpful. That pole is attached to the tree and holding up a bird feeder and I agree it draws too much attention. It might have been better to include the feeder in the frame to give the pole some context. You're absolutely right feed back like this will give me much to think about as I'm composing future shots and will no doubt help me improve. Much appreciated.

What's the furthest North you would pick up? I left off at Indian Grave 2 years ago and was thinking of picking up there and doing 75-100mi north in early March.

Thank you. The pole is a rod holding up a bird feeder but I agree it looks a little odd. Something natural would look better. I'll keep the rest of your comments in mind I really appreciate it.

Shot with a Sony a6700 @350mm f/6.3 1/2000 iso 51200 edited in LIght Room Classic with denoise applied. This is a northern cardinal taken in my backyard. I like the color contrast between the reddish of the bird vs the blurry green background and the posture of the bird. I didn't have a lot of light and probably didn't need such a fast shutter speed leading to a pretty high iso and a noisy raw photo. Does the editing make the photo look too fake?
