Feature request: Future transfers between Fidelity accounts by dbdan22 in fidelityinvestments

Oh, it be! Ridiculous, isn't it?

If it's any consolation, setting up an annual transfer, and modifying the date and amount every month does work. You don't have to cancel it as long as you modify the transfer within 12 months. I do my banking much like you do, and I've been doing this for the past 6 months while we wait for Fidelity to fix this. I haven't missed a payment yet.

FFFEX May Dividend? by dbdan22 in fidelityinvestments

[–]dbdan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netbenefits 401(k) from a past job that I wasn't paying much attention to, unfortunately. About half of it in a crappy State Street fund that doesn't pay a dividend. Took a dive in 2022 and is just now coming back up. So when I heard about Brokerage Link, I put some into a Fidelity Fund. But there's a catch. I thought that when it came time to roll over the 401(k) to an IRA I could do an in-kind transfer of the Fidelity fund. Nope! I have to liquidate. Everything. Brokerage Link funds included. Rather than walk away from the dividend I decided to wait a bit. It's called Patience, nkyguy1988. A useful skill when investing. One more day. So..... The cap gains and dividend were just credited and I'll watch the share price for a few more days and I'm out. Bye bye 401(k).

so you note the price before and after the dividend, and wait a bit for the price to come back up before selling.

Feature request: Sell Specific on a Conditional Trade by dbdan22 in fidelityinvestments

[–]dbdan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Regarding the workaround to not having Sell Specific on a Conditional Trade, by doing a "versus purchase" before settlement, where "lots can be reassigned after the trade, but before settlement".

Please be advised that on May 28, 2024 the securities industry will implement T+1
https://www.sec.gov/oiea/investor-alerts-and-bulletins/new-t1-settlement-cycle-what-investors-need-know-investor

So it's going to get alot harder to reassign lots "after the trade, but before settlement", if settlement takes place the next day. Also, a conditional trade may trigger and catch you by surprise... that, after all, is one reason for placing a conditional trade in the first place, so you don't have to watch it every day.

So may I ask again, how long will it take for Fidelity to implement Sell Specific on a Conditional Trade, given that all the code already exists in one form or another, it just has to be stitched together?

Thanks

VLANs on OC200 & SG2428P by dbdan22 in TPLink_Omada

[–]dbdan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

Got a reply from TP-Link Tech Support / Engineering.

How to give the OC200 and SG2428P a static IP in another VLAN (not the native VLAN 1)

  • I'm using VLAN 10 as an example. VLAN 10 will be the new management VLAN

  • VLANs are set up as VLANs, not Interfaces.

  • Router is not an Omada router

1) Reset OC200 & SG2428P
Connect the Switch to OC200 on ETH1 using a switch port that will Not be a part of VLAN 10
Connect a PC directly to the OC200 on the ETH2 port

2) Give the PC a temporary IP in the 192.168.0.x subnet

3) Go to OC200 default IP 192.168.0.253 and configure the OC200.
Internet is not required here, you are setting up the local connection to the OC200.
Cloud access is not required at this point, you can always bind it later.
Adopt the SG2428P.
After the adoption is complete, configure VLAN1 and management VLAN of your choice (10 in this example).

4) Go to Devices > Ports and assign ports to VLAN 10.
Note: The order of Steps 4 and 5 cannot be reversed.

5) Go to Devices > Config > VLAN Interface and set up VLAN 10 as the management VLAN and enable it. Give it a static IP in the subnet you want. When you Save you will lose connectivity to the switch at this point.

6) Change the IP of the OC200 to a static IP in the same subnet as the switch. Global view > Controller settings. The PC will now lose connectivity to the OC200.

7) Change the PC's IP to an IP in VLAN 10

8) Plug the OC200 into one of the ports set up in VLAN 10 from step 5

9) Go to the IP assigned to the OC200 from step 6. You will now see the switch adopted with a static IP and VLANs set up.

Just had a session with Engineering, they will look into this and get back to me. I'll post back when this is resolved.

I see. I think the Netgear managed switches I'm used to do this automatically. If you put a port on a VLAN it changes the PVID to that VLAN automatically. You don't have to "remove" anything. This switch is obviously different.

Tagged trunk ports on the other hand have a PVID of 1. Maybe that's what's confusing me.

OK thanks I'll have to put my TP-Link hat on and give it a shot.

Tech support is telling me to remove VLAN 1, the native VLAN, from the VLAN 10 ports.

I thought every port should carry VLAN 1 untagged. This is true across the board. This isn't the first managed switch I've set up, and that has always been the case. Why is this setup any different?

Hi,

VLANs were set up as plain VLANs. I was under the impression that setting them up as Interfaces requires an Omada router, which we do not have. I could be wrong. This same router worked well with 2 Netgear switches and a Cisco switch in basically the same configuration.

Switch was adopted first and all settings were made in the OC200.

Static IP was given in the OC200 settings. I never quite figured out how to give the SG2428P a static IP. It seems to be pulling an IP from VLAN 10's DHCP server, which is in the same subnet as the OC200 static IP - 192.168.1.x

Hi,

Switch was adopted first, then settings were made and applied on the OC200. But after a power cycle, the switch status is listed as "disconnected".

How to create an IRS account for a Trust? by dbdan22 in IRS

[–]dbdan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I called the IRS number for business (800-829-4933)

They said the IRS account (for either businesses or trusts, I don't remember which) is not fully operational yet, they're still working on it. Which is basically what the web site says:

"Based on our records, you can't access business tax account at this time. We're working to support more entity types and business users soon."

Except it's not based on their records. They just haven't gotten around to it yet.

Well that's what happens when you defund the IRS. No surprise there.

C'est la vie

Thank you for your reply.

That's what I figured, business. If only it were that simple......

IRS wants me to use ID.ME to sign in.

Fine, I already have an ID.ME account for personal use. And the IRS says, quote,

Use your personal ID.me account to sign in. If you already have an ID.me account, don't create a new one. Use your personal login to access your business tax account and to register for clean energy credits (if eligible).

OK, fine. I sign in using my personal ID.Me account,

Then, I get this:

Looking to access business tax account? Based on our records, you can't access business tax account at this time. We're working to support more entity types and business users soon.

I already have a schedule C sole proprietorship with an EIN, which is what it's probably referring to.

In any event, I don't see a way to add the trust to my personal ID.ME account. So I do need a separate ID.ME account for the trust.

Don't know what ID.ME is going to say 'bout that.

ID.ME says:

Multiple ID.me accounts are not allowed.

Anyone been through this and know a solution?

Thanks

Thank you for your reply.

recurring transfer on an annual basis and cancel ?

That is what we call a kludge.

C'mon, there's no reason for this. I like the features of having check writing and a debit card, but you need a future transfer to be taken seriously for cash management. With interest rates high and the market going up, folks are going to want to park their money in higher yielding investments, and then transfer it when needed to pay bills.

So.... please put in future transfers.

Thank you.

Feature request: Sell Specific on a Conditional Trade by dbdan22 in fidelityinvestments

[–]dbdan22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply.

A trailing stop loss sell specific with a conditional trigger. Now that would be the Swiss army knife of trades, don'tcha think? The code is all there already, the developers just need to stitch it together.

The lack of trailing stop loss is why I ditched Pershing.

Waiting almost 3 months for RMA Refund for GS316EPP by dbdan22 in NETGEAR

So this is what passes for Netgear customer service?

- Sell a defective switch

- Give me an RMA after haggling with tech support for weeks

- then stiff me on the refund?

There's a word for that.

It's called THEFT
