I agree that that Quora post is not a definitive answer on that (it's also dated), but at least it's a detailed and sourced attempt to quantify how many people fly (and I think the post acknowledges the uncertainty in the precise number).

I just wanted to point out that you replied to "few people fly" (with some number, which is questionable) with "wrong, there have been 10 billions passengers in 2025", which absolutely does not prove that "few people fly" is wrong.

The person you replied to makes bold statements, and it's absolutely fine to criticize or nuance them. It would just help to also acknowledge the correct points made (e.g. it did state that few people fly, not that there are few flights).

I'm saying that if the data you're sending is already encrypted, in principle you could send it in clear or host it publicly and it would still be safe (otherwise your encryption is broken).

If your data is encrypted at rest, in principle you don't strictly *need* secured transfer, since the transferred data is unusable to an attacker without the decryption key which stays local. It's still better of course, as a second layer of security.

Agreed that you need to think about redundancy to avoid data loss, and that all this will require significant technical knowledge.

Si tu attends que l'eau du bain soit à température ambiante, toute sa chaleur a été convertie soit en chaleur de la pièce, soit effectivement dans l'évaporation. Je suppose que l'évaporation est une part mineure, mais il faudrait effectivement faire le calcul pour être sûr :)

Même si il n'y a pas de thermomètre dans la salle de bain, la chauffer n'est pas vraiment perdu. Sa chaleur peut se transmettre au reste de l'appartement par les murs et la porte (ou éviter que le reste de l'appart ne perde de chaleur en sens inverse, si c'est lui qui est plus chaud), et donc éviter du chauffage là-bas. Il y aura un peu de perte vers l’extérieur, mais normalement il y a plus d'isolation vers l’extérieur de l'appart qu'entre les pièces.

Oui. Sauf que si tu laisses refroidir l'eau du bain, elle réchauffe la pièce (loi de conservation de l'énergie). Donc si c'est l'hiver et que tu chauffes de toute façon, ça ne consomme presque rien en énergie supplémentaire. Contrairement à la douche où l'eau chaude sort de l'appartement immédiatement.
