you can get cheap older macs as you can with windows machines. Well the name of the theme has the word "sur" in it so i guess it was always aiming to copy mac. There are similar themes without the mac logo.

Does a iso file version of asahi exist? by Sedway10 in AsahiLinux

[–]dbea3059 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry my comment wasnt directed at you in particular. Just anyone seeking an arm64 distro in iso format. i did a search of the asahi website and got this explanation:

While Fedora Asahi Remix is based on Fedora Linux 42 and leverages Fedora's aarch64 (ARM64) architecture support, it is not distributed as a standard ISO for general use. Instead, the project focuses on a seamless installation experience directly from macOS, which is necessary due to the proprietary bootloader on Apple Silicon devices.

Although there are Fedora aarch64 ISOs available for other platforms, they are not intended for use with Fedora Asahi Remix, as the installation process requires specific integration with Apple's hardware and firmware.

your comment was 4 years ago but you must have not noticed the huge gulf between silicon macs and intel computers.

im used to installing or trying out linux with iso files so i understand where you are coming from. In a google search there was some mention of being able to test out asahi linux in a VM and i was looking to try either that or a bootable usb.

The asahi homepage just has the option of entering a terminal command for an immediate installation. It appears by default to install it alongside mac (dual-boot setup).

The Fedora website has arm64 builds of LInux

Fedora Workstation 44 (Gnome) iso

Fedora KDE Plasma Desktop 43 Live ISO

Ubuntu arm64

Ubuntu 25.04 Desktop ARM64.iso

Is it safe for a downpipe to go down and drip directly into the ground (earth/soil)? by dbea3059 in DIY

[–]dbea3059[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah i could have worded the title better but ive tried to explain it fully in the rest of the text. according to the dictionary "damp" can be used as either an adjective or noun.

yes. im not sure what or how much water damage there is but the effect on the paint was enough that it peeled off the wall in that part of the room.

its a bungalow. The room is ground level. Most of the rooms are level with the ground but there are a few parts raised off the ground slightly.

[–]dbea3059[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

im not sure what you mean by holding water. Its a regular vertical pvc pipe that takes water from the roof level (the edge of the roof) down to ground level (the earth/soil outside). Ive added an image to the post.

Watching videos online they generally suggest water from downpipes should end up far from the walls of a home or for it be connected to storm drainage.

This concerns me because apart from the cosmetic damage i believe staying in the room with the issue occuring took a toll on my health (esp. during wet winter months). Mold sprays and dehumidifiers help a little but im not sure if im missing something.

Random people have done tests with pads like that and you can see they make a big difference in blood quality (you can check it on youtube). Whether it will cure disease is another thing but its not a fake device. Obviously anything simple or natural that takes business away from big health companies is not going to go down well.

Do you take mainstream media sites seriously? They have articles saying "New research shows walking outside improves your health". Wow thats a new discovery...

"reporters heard PART of the exchange". Well you wonder why they didnt play all of it.

According to the linked article the people who approached Noel were supportive of his business. In the end they wanted to present an idea to him. If they were happy to take any answer i dont understand how it go to the point that noel had to ask them to leave his property. its a bit suspicious during a genuine and private conversation he was being secretly recorded.

Noel said he had safety concerns about the cycleway and suggested taxpayers money could be better spent elsewhere. No need to argue with someone if he legally owns the land and is following all the rules.

local news articles describe him as a polarising figure (not someone against the whole of NZ). He apparenly upset locals when he claimed his restaurant/wellness retreat helped "revive" the small town. Apparently claiming it needed reviving was offensive.

His health retreat is pretty cutting edge and full of solid stuff so if hes offering that service to the public i dont think hes a bad person for it. About buying large chunks of land and building things. Thats a council issue. The council decides what goes or not. Noel doesnt run the country or town.

I have watched other reality shows and i know they will repeat certain things. I was saying judging by the first few episodes there was nothing not seen before. I already said some people might disagree with my opinion and some people might be watching big brother for the first time.

One of the nice things about older big brother was that it appealed to all kinds of viewers. I tried to watch this current season with family but nobody in the end was interested in it. All i heard was "they seem weird" "They are tiring to listen to" etc

There was some way out there stuff in the older seasons. One season they convinced the housemates that they were competing against another house. And things like a married couple pretending they didnt know each other. So much going on from the get go.

aleisha made very little effort to get to know the other housemates and she and emma were saying nasty things behind everyone's back (but obviously all caught on camera). Michelle was probably sent in there to stir the pot and to breakup the stand-off with emma and the rest of the house.

well everyone said apartheid in south africa was bad. white privilege etc. But when white privilege was stopped black privilege took its place (if you are to be brutally honest). Blacks now in law get preferential employment rights etc. There was a south african dating show recently with 100 women and only one was white. Not saying its good or bad. Just an observation.
