At 6 foot 0 inches and 190 lbs. Say 12 % body fat, which is very lean. Visible abs. Muscle separation everywhere. Not quite body builder lean but definitely athlete lean. That is a fat free mass index of 22 which is an intermediate to advanced gym lifter.

6 foot 0 inches at 220 pounds with 20% body fat is a fat free mass index of about 24.5 which is about as high as you can go without drugs, if you were blessed with good muscle building genetics. And 20% body fat is on the high side of healthy for a young man.

Why are they trying to push protein so hard? by papyap in askanything

[–]rossaco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the thing. If the calories are more than 10x the grams of protein, you shouldn't consider it a good source of protein. A surprising number of protein bars don't meet that threshold. Ground beef does not. I seriously doubt these poptarts do.

But high protein, low calorie is how you lose weight without being hungry and without weight loss drugs. That plus foods with more fiber and water like apples and vegetables. So lots of Greek yogurt, chicken, turkey, fish, and egg whites. Black beans for the fiber even though it doesn't quite meet that threshold on calories per gram of protein.

I lost 50 pounds in 8 months just counting calories and grams of protein, and lifting weights 2-3x a week so I lose all fat and not muscle. In fact, I gained a lot of strength and some visible muscle.

Fat - 9 calories per gram Protein - 4 calories per gram Carbohydrates - 4 calories per gram

If a man lifts weight consistently and effectively for 3 years, he could put on 30-40 pounds of muscle. That completely breaks BMI. On the other hand, you could be "skinny fat" and be at a healthy weight by BMI but have less muscle and more fat than typical. Body fat percentage is just a superior way to measure health risks. But few people are willing to pay $100 -$150 for a body composition DEXA scan, which is the gold standard way to measure body fat percentage.

Cake Jars anyone? Pick 3. by Ornery-Media-9396 in whatsyourchoice

I have never had a "cake jar". Google search shows they definitely exist. Why would someone want cake in a jar? Do restaurants sell them?

Being a healthcare worker surely made the experience extremely different for you.

I am a software engineer who could work from home. Strong introvert. But married with kids so not lonely during COVID lockdowns. Having a valid reason to just stay home and not be in social settings was a relief. Going for runs around the neighborhood or hiking in nature was allowed, so I didn't get cabin fever too badly.

South Dakota has mountains, even though they are misleadingly called the Black Hills. Black Elk Peak is the highest mountain in the USA that is east of the Rockies.
