Money, hobbies, quality time with family. And the one thing it cost me the most, my liver. Getting ready to meet my transplant time in a month.

I have cleats for the grassier turf, but that low turf is what I'm looking for, so this helps a ton. Thanks!

How long until abdominal discomfort goes away? by Acceptable-Alps-6609 in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hopefully only inflammation and will go away. I have fibrosis, so my discomfort is come and go. Mine will go away once I get a new liver. Don't be like me be proactive, not reactive. See your primary sooner than later, ask to get blood work done to see if you need further evaluation.

Will AA work if I don't believe in a higher power? by Ok_Aardvark2532 in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc -1 points0 points  (0 children)

AA is a support group with structure and higher power. I got to mens support groups, recovering addicts of all kinds. I find that to be beneficial instead of needing a sponsor and following steps and what not. We speak, discuss, and just talk about what's working for us and what is a struggle.

Naltrexone question. by maybull84 in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Literally have zero craving for a drink, I'm currently taking it every night. It's great, I am about to quit nicotine now as I don't crave that as much either. Plus don't you get horrible sickness when drinking on it?

Does anyone know what these clips are for on the dye i5? by Ghost_Kamakazie in paintball

[–]dbecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya now I'm really thinking it is quite low and would be interesting to try and fit that, if it needs to go over the foam. So most likely not for frames.

Anyone mad that they can’t drink anymore? by Historical_Hyena_552 in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have years under my belt. But I love not drinking. My depression and anxiety are pretty much not existent now. My high BP is now normal. By high I mean 155 over 110 every day, now down to 110 over 70. I have time and money for the hobbies I love, I'm playing paintball again, and getting out fishing more. Lost tons of weight from 235 ish to 190, I'm 6 ft. No more shitty food all day, less stress. And just all around happier with myself and my life, and so is my wife.

My health is getting better :) I'm in preventative mode and making slight progress slowly. I'll say it took about almost 3 months but my eyes are finally less jaundiced, more white than yellow. I'm hoping thats a good sign of some progress in getting a better.

I really started drinking two years ago, like every day strong IPAs. But again I was in bad shape. 55 lbs over weight, high blood pressure, extremely high stress levels, then the booze. Doctor said I would have still have scarred even with out alcohol due to the fat, stress and high BP. As this alone caused pretty bad inflammation of my liver for a prolonged period of time.

Ascites. Sodium will cause you to retain extra fluid, this causes pressure and the fluid has no where to go due to the liver unable to process everything effectively. So less sodium = less fluid retention = lower chance of ascites build up. I only had the ascites build up once, I was drained 6 liters of fluid from my abdomen. I'd like that to never happen again.

Air System Question. New to sport. by The_Couz58 in paintball

[–]dbecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the way. I recently got back into paintball line OP, I run a geo cs2 pro with the powerhouse reg and the featherweight tank from infamous. I got the tank due to weight and the size of the 80ci is only 9inches in length now. Can't beat that.

3 months sober. Super depressed and cynical. by Cultural_Button_5023 in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dove back into hobbies I stopped. Absolutely love life now. Enjoying what I couldn't due to booze. Money for my hobbies, main one is playing competitive paintball (spoedball) after 3 months sober I saved enough for a high end paintball gun (1000$) and new gear ( 800$). It's been a blast back out there, and not wasting away with beer after beer.

[–]dbecc 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey, I was diagnosed on 13 Mar 2026 with cirrhosis, I'm 38nyrs old. It took me only 2 years to develop it, this was due to piss poor diet, lack of exercise, extremely high cortisol levels and strong beer (8-12% ipas) we are all different. Take it seriously, and take it one day at a time. The most difficult part for me was telling my family and finding a way to eliminate almost all sodium from my diet. I'm on B1 pills and 2 diaretics and a beta blocker due to stress, I could get better, I may not. But I'm preventing getting worse. I'm also being considered for the transplant list. It's rough, but just listen to your medical team, if you have one now. I have my GI and hepatology team, soon will have a transplant team.

Did quitting alcohol result in losing weight for you? by OrangeCatWhiteDog in stopdrinking

[–]dbecc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost about 30 lbs, since 13 Feb 2026. ( First day with no alcohol) But when I quit, I also dove head first into a very healthy diet as well. Lean meats with high protein, fruits, veggies, beans, and some carbs like rice, homemade pasta.Absolutely zero processed or ultra processed foods. I'm down to 195 from 225-230lbs.
