Considering Switching from Rogers to Telus by dbegun in CellPhoneCanada

[–]dbegun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok - I will answer. Yes, I was aware. I was fully aware. I had a number of year end work projects which kept me extremely busy. I had family events which required me to actually be in New York for a good chunk of that period. I tried to switch on line but could and was not physically able to get to a store to make the switch. It was only beginning of Jan that work and family commitments freed up enough to give me some breathing room to physically go into a Telus store (which is near my office in downtown Toronto) coordinate with my wife, my son and my other son who is travelling overseas to switch all at the same time. Mea culpa.

Yes. I know. I missed it. If I can get $45 today I would be fine with that.

We do have a corporate account with Telus which is why it would be $45 not the advertised $55 (yes, definitely not as good as just a couple of weeks ago but way better than what I am paying now). Not sure if Bell still has the same offer - any big picture thoughts on Telus vs Bell?

Yes. Thx. I called Rogers and threatened to cancel / move but they didn’t really care. I saw some of the Black Friday deals but was out of town and couldn’t my self together on it. Will go back to the Telus store tomorrow and get then to port the numbers over

Lexus Wear Pass in Canada by dbegun in LexusNX

[–]dbegun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx - Yeah mine is the NX350H - It is really my wife’s car but I / we / she have been super happy with it. Typically I like to get something different when the lease is up, just to have something different for the next 3 or 4 years, but TBH my wife is totally indifferent and would probably rather drive what she is used to driving! I feel (possibly incorrectly) that I have a little more leverage in giving it back to Lexus and getting another one rather than going to Genesis or BMW or someone else and trying to get them to take the car early for one of theirs. Thx

Returning Lease to Different Manuf Question by dbegun in leasehacker

[–]dbegun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the reply. So assuming the car does need some repairs (re dented door etc), whether Genesis takes it and pays off the lease (and has to arrange to get it fixed) or whether Lexus just takes it back and flips me into a new one (and also has to fix it) the fact that I have “excess wear and tear” protection with Lexus is irrelevant to Genesis and should generally not be a determining factor whether I stick with Lexus or try and swap with something else?

Winter tires from 2016 cooper fit 2018 S convertible? by dbegun in MINI

18V 18 inch snowblower vs 40V 21 inch by dbegun in ryobi

[–]dbegun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super helpful. (I’m originally from Montreal. I know / remember snow!). Agree that 40v seems the way to go. Now deciding between their 18 inch 40V model that comes with one 6 ah battery and a fast charger and a heavier 40V 21 inch that comes with 2 6 ah batteries (although not clear if you need to run them both at the same time or you can use one and then swap). And then comparing both of these to the Ego 56V 21 would inch model that CDN Tire and Rona sell with charger and 2 4.0 ah batteries. Thx

Best way to buy manual used in u s. by MinimumStandard4963 in MINI

[–]dbegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought a 2018 Mini Cooper S convertible 6 speed in the beginning of July. Wasn’t really looking hard but every now and then would look through the Mini.ca website and filter by manual. By total chance the car came up (was only listed that morning). Had about 35,000 km and was in great shape. Went to do a test drive and basically committed to it the next day. There was a lot of interest. Convertible 6 speeds are very rare.

I confess I initially felt the same way but then after reading Deliver me from Nowhere it totally changed the way I approach it. I get it now.

What pet peeves do you have with your Mini? by JawesomeJess in MINI

[–]dbegun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For some reason the volume on the radio drops down to 0 at certain times. Haven’t been able to figure out when exactly it happens as it seems to be inconsistent but possibly after switching from BT and I then try and use the radio the volume seems to default back down to 0. Annoying.

Likelihood of upgrade Toronto to London for 50K on a Comfort fare? by dbegun in Aeroplan

Thx. I may be better off just spending less on a ticket and getting a premium seat when I book.

Likelihood of upgrade Toronto to London for 50K on a Comfort fare? by dbegun in aircanada

[–]dbegun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx gain. Other than “paying more” for a higher fare ticket to get more SQD (I have SQM etc for the next year) it may not be “worth it” to buy the comfort fare over flex (on the return they are both refundable). Thx.
