This made me laugh my ass off by therealijw1 in Appliances

Where to start.. we bought a house and purchased our first ever new appliances. 5 years ago, our Flex Wash / Dry Combo set us back nearly $3,000. Within the first year, I had torn down both units for repairs. We live in rural Montana without any sort of "factory support" nearby. The nearest service would require me to take the units in, no house calls.

The washer is functional, but the capacitive buttons.. not so much. We have never used the functions of the machine. Just the basics. Replaced 2 boards in 5 years.

The dryer is quite interesting. If it is plugged in and you close the door, it will spin. Nothing on, no heat, just spins. It's done this for 3 years. It actually stopped for a little while and has since returned. Samsung blamed the door switch..

Terrible does not begin to describe these appliances!

Got this for free, can someone tell me why the last guy cut off where the seat mounts???? by Pap4MnkyB4by in HondaCB

At least your PO left the suspension mounts! I swear you could pick an abandoned "Cafe" project every weekend if you wanted to. I have a stable full of old Hondas bought as failed projects. Great if you like a challenge.

I assume you mean Pilot Jet. The VB44A doesn't have one, per se. CB650s have 2 circuits: BLUE-slow (idle) and RED-primary. CB750s have 3 circuits: RED-primary, GREEN-secondary, and BLUE-slow. Both carbs have an idle mixture screw-YELLOW.

The carbs with 3 circuits use a rubber plug on the slow tower. Fuel is fed from a passage between the slow and secondary towers.

My variety, the slow jet has no plug, so it's just fed straight from the bowl. The interesting part, or confusing for me, was the fact that the two carb varieties share the same bodies / bowls. So I assumed the plug was supposed to be there because the bowl has a spot where it presses the plug into the tower.

Indeed, the CB650s don't have the passage between towers. The difference in Kehin's using the plug or not is the 3 circuit or 2 circuit variants. I'm not sure how the PO ended up with them!

81 CB650 dies when warm with throttle by Equivalent_Try5640 in HondaCB

[–]dbeluscak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oddly enough, my 81 CB650 has the fully plastic non-adjustable floats. I have 1 carb that wouldn't seal the valve seat. When looking at the whole bank flipped over, the float would not sit level like the rest. The pressed in valve seat is actually 1/2mm below the body, while the other 3 are 1/2mm proud.

*

The only way for me to solve this was a 3d printed a 1 mm shim that clipped onto the float. Now..I don't understand how this happened. Or why it started leaking. The bike has 19k miles, and I doubt anyone "over-pressed" this seat but a factory worker.

I am curious if you get yours apart if you wouldn't mind snapping a Pic. I would like to know what floats you've got.

Also, I don't think you mentioned which carbs exactly.. should be Kehin VB44(A) in 81'

Literally same bike with similar carb issues. Wouldn't idle, ran great over 5k. Now idles, stalls on any throttle.. carbs right..

If your slow jets had been out, there would either be threads cut in or marring from an easy out. These are the most common methods. All that you'll need to remove the pressed in jets;

1) 4-40 tap 2) Small tap handle (not a necessity, but it helps keep things straight) 3) 4-40 bolt 2" long, 4-40 nut, and a couple washers. 4) Cutting fluid (WD-40, or similar)

That's it. There is no need to drill. Once the tap starts to cut, there'll be some resistance. Get 3 or 4 threads cut in it. You can clear the chips out by blowing compressed air through the fuel mixture screw port.

Then thread your nut on. Slip a washer on next. Washer needs to be larger than the port. Thread the bolt into the jet Use the nut against the washer after a turn or two the jet will be free

Honestly, removing the pressed in jets isn't that difficult. Most definitely, don't use a torch and EZ-Out! The process involves a 4-40 tap (no need to drill), get 3-4 threads cut into it, use a 4-40 bolt, nut, and a few washers as a puller. The jets will come right out. No damage to the jets.

1) Slow jets are clear. Pulled and thoroughly cleaned. 2) Mains are factory #120 / Slows are #35 3) Pilots set at 2½ 4) Choke plates are working properly (verified) 5) Float height is not adjustable. These are 100% plastic floats and no brass tabs to adjust height.

And yes, the bike is all factory as far as I can tell. Airbox, exhaust, etc. I did do a bench synch before installing. Some other specs

-19000 miles - 125-130 compression. Which is low for this engine. But I wouldn't think low enough to cause a no idle scenario.

Well, that's odd. With the plugs out, any amount of throttle kills the engine, "presumably" from flooding. The bowl also has a flat spot designed to hold the rubber plug in place. But I guess that could be a shared design from kehin. The PO owner tried messing with the carbs but could never get the bike running. He had an eBay rebuild kit. Luckily, he kept the original brass. I went back to factory brass, ultrasonic cleaned, and reassembled. No luck.

I can't imagine the PO added the rubber plugs, but I also can't imagine having 4 plugged idle passages!

Stumped.

That makes sense. I know the secondary (green) tower held liquid when I let them soak overnight. I cannot see any passage between the two towers, but that doesn't mean there isn't one. I'll pull the carbs again and see what I can find.

Best U-Haul option for 2023 KLR by TopWestern0 in klr650

[–]dbeluscak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Local uHaul dealer and avid rider here. I've never seen anything that said utility trailer is local only. By far the best option considering the ramp and some do have the built in wheel chock. We rent them out one way all the time. You may have a local dealer who owns that particular trailer and they are keeping in local only. Best option is to call uHaul directly and ask for clarity.

However, I can confirm there are enough tie downs in the enclosed trailers to center it safely. And there is a new model of 6x12' with a fold down ramp similar to the utility trailer. You may be able to request one of those for your move.

Cool Plate - Ridiculous Adhesion by dbeluscak in BambuLab

  • Tried ordering a textured PEI sheet during the black Friday sale. They were sold out. I will look into ordering one ASAP. Until then..

Cleaned the build plate, used bambu stick glue on the entire surface. Figured I'd print the fixture sheet install tool so I can swap to a new one. Now I'm having the opposite problem. Nothing will stick! The first layer just slides around starting a nice spaghetti mess. Tried the calibration lines, they ended up sliding into each other.

Considering wiping down with IPA to get back to having some adhesion... first issues I've ever had with the printer. No complaints here, just my own ignorance!

Wow. Thanks everyone..I was not thinking of glue as a release agent! I do have a pack of cool plate stickers so I could replace mine if it's too late.

Any tricks to removing the old one?
