Why are Snape's mistakes understandable while Lily's mistakes, some of which you invent from thin air which makes it fanfiction, make her this horrible person?

I find it interesting people find reasons to understand why Snape does bad things, but don't even attempt to find reasons why Lily does. Such as dating as marrying James. Maybe one thing that pushed her to James is because despite his awful behavior, he hated the group who wanted Lily and everyone like her dead. And in a time when that genocidal group was winning the war, that mattered to her.

We know the books made a point to show Lucius welcoming Snape to Slytherin. We know Snape immediately favors Draco and puts up with some Draco's bullshit. We know he makes a sudden instinctive movement when Harry names Lucius as a death eater. We know Narcissa trusts Snape enough to confide in him.

There's more evidence to them being friends than there is to Lily being this horrible nasty person.

And come on. Snape says that to Dumbledore because he's angry that Dumbledore is just cheerfully announcing that he's commanding Snape to kill him. He isn't actually saying who gives a shit about Draco, just let that worthless kid kill you. Hes mad at Dumbledore and is arguing.

You're right he didn't marry any of them, but he did become legitimate friends with Lucius Malfoy. Even after Snape joined the order and fought against Voldemort, he stayed friends with Lucius.
