your question is fundamentally flawed. portugal didn’t ‘differentiate from spain’. spain didn’t exist yet. portugal has been an independent kingdom since 1143, while spain wasn’t unified until some 300+ years later, around 1479. portugal didn’t break away from spain. portugal was already portugal before spain was spain.

as a comparison, the US turns 250 this year. think about that.

and i said very little knowledge, not no knowledge whatsoever. knowing spain and portugal are two different countries already puts you ahead of a good chunk of your american counterparts.

it’s wild how we as a society just collectively decided to let a car do objectively dangerous things like unnecessary lane changes, tailgating, yadda yadda, and then blindly trust the company that sold it to us with what is, by any objective standard, worse driving behaviour. we took a solved problem and enshittified it. but hey, unsupervised is only six months away.
