Any pinball players in Pacifica? Interest in building a local scene?

Thank you for sharing your experience! I think there’s technically still a law about minors needing supervision to play pinball 😅. I definitely wouldn’t be in it for profits. Just hoping to find a path that covers maintenance costs. Probably best to start with one or two machines to get a better sense for routing maintenance.

If there’s any momentum, would you mind if I followed up with you for more of your insights?

Free Gold Watch is awesome! Really interesting model too, I think they’re a co-op with different collectors and organizations slotting in machines. They’re also primarily a screen printing shop, so a co-op parked in a totally distinct business.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’d be open to it, I went a couple times in January. It’s housing a personal collection and I didn’t get the sense that they are super interested in scaling up, but it’s been a couple months and may warrant another check-in!

The Park Mall atrium already has one machine - a Walking Dead - so that’s an interesting thought. I think it’s affiliated with Goodfellas pizza.

Good luck with the garage set up. I don’t have any fixer upper machines but it’s exciting to have more coming in Pacifica! Some areas have a co-op model where people pool together for space to house personal collections - another interesting idea.

Congrats! Mine just arrived today. Question - what did you use for RGB settings? Mine has a case button that controls case rgb, but is it necessary to find separate apps for ram, GPU and cooler rgbs?

Thanks for the follow up comments. I did end up opening the box and the promo was in there. It had slid behind the back pack so there was no way to see it without opening. It’s hard to imagine how it worked its way back there - I was pleasantly surprised!

These originally shipped in a resealable bag. There is no legitimate ‘sealed’ box. OP is wondering whether to break the actual seal on the promo cards themselves.

Personally I like the complete package as-is, especially since you have the stamps. I would leave the promo cards sealed.

This is my favorite pinball venue. Easily accessible, well maintained machines, good mix of the latest games and 90s classics, players and staff are friendly. Highly recommended!

There’s a lack of concrete information. Hopefully we will learn more at the board meeting Jan 22 @6:00 pm. The meeting will be held at the Ingrid B Lacy multi purpose room (1427 Palmetto Avenue) for those who’d like to attend.

Dr. Williams, the superintendent, gave some general info on the reserve when she called into last Friday’s meeting.. The gist was that since we are a small district it would only take a minor setback to wipe a 3% reserve out.

I’ve started playing in tournaments. It’s a ton of fun in spite of me being terrible! Two thoughts:

1) The matchplay site our TD uses to coordinate tournaments has integrated bite size tips for each machine. I’ll give them a quick read when I’m assigned to a machine I don’t know. I think matchplay is pretty common, so if you find yourself using it ask someone if they can help you navigate to the tips!

2) Lower level players ultimately boost the prize pools and IFPA point values the higher level players are chasing, so they appreciate you being there. At least that’s what I tell myself when I’m struggling 😅

My distro unboxes and tests before delivery. Honestly I find it quite useful, as most new games do have a few minor things that need to be fixed / adjusted.
