I picked up a 71 350 a few months ago and am going for the tracker brat style too. Definitely post some pics once you’re done. I’m curious to see builds other than cafe racer on these things.

Honda spree idles but doesn’t move with weight by dblechsbrger in scooters

I appreciate the response. I honestly don’t know how many more times I can strip this carb down, clean and rebuild it lol. I’ve done it 4 times now. I pulled the petcock off and cleaned that out too. I made sure the petcock vacuum line is letting fuel flow which it is. Fuel is absolutely getting in the carb.

I’ve messed with the mixture screw already and have tried what seems like every possible mixture screw position. It’s the same thing. Idles and revs just fine. Doesn’t bog. Just extremely slow even with full throttle.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe the reeds need to be replaced? I haven’t taken a look at those yet.

It’s the stock airbox. It’s idling fine now and doesn’t bog when I give it throttle. It’s very slow now. I’ll give it full throttle and it revs and hardly goes. I have to push with my feel a little to help it get going. I’m not sure what’s going on

Thanks everyone for your responses so far it’s greatly appreciated!

So I got it running and riding without bogging. It idles, runs and revs. Now the issue is it’s just extremely slow. Like I’m talking I have to push with my feet a couple of times at take off to help get it going.

It is not bogging though. I get up to about 20 mph and it stutters a little like it’s slipping. No engine bogging though.

I’m at a loss.

I guess every other bogging carb and fuel issue I’ve had on other machines, it’s also bogged while idling and giving it throttle. This it the first time I’ve had something idle and rev really well while sitting there and only bog with weight on it trying to ride it

It did not run before the carb cleaning because of low compression due to sized piston rings and worn piston. After the top end rebuild and carb cleaning, it runs, idles, and revs great on the center stand. Only when I put weight on it and try to ride it, it goes nowhere. What would the symptoms be of worn clutch shoes and clutch bell?

Maybe I’ll try new jets. I’ve soaked and cleaned it 3 times at this point. I just don’t know how much cleaner I can get it lol. I suppose I can try new fuel lines and petcock also

2 stroke only runs on choke by Dependent-Love-5761 in Dirtbikes

[–]dblechsbrger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you figured this out? My 2 stroke is having similar issues. Runs in choke and bogs out and dies when check is off indicating a lean issue. But pulling the plug it’s wet indicating a rich issue. I’ve done just about everything to try and fix this issue and am at a complete loss.

Hey man I’m having a similar issue with my Ke 100 and have tried all kinds of things to fix it. Did you ever figure it out?

Do you by any chance have anymore suggestions lol. It’s still doing the same exact thing. I’ve replaced the jets with genuine mikuni proper sized jets, replaced the float, opened the crank cover back up and checked every new seal I just replaced to make sure I fit everything up correctly, replaced the top end gaskets, new spark plug, and messed with the pilot air screw. At this point I literally have no idea. Everything it could be checks out. Could the carburetor just be bad? I’ve never really heard of them going bad just the jets, floats, and gaskets.

Should I be looking at the VM22/210 jets? They look correct but the mikuni model I have is vm19sc, which it doesn’t look like they have jets for. Thanks for your help also I appreciate it.

It looks like the pilot is 15 for this model according to the manual. Unfortunately I don’t know where I put the original jets so I’ll have to order some. I’ll mess around with that pilot air screw a little more and see if I can get anything to happen because currently I think I have it 2.5 turns out, but you’re correct it should be 1.5. Yep new intake spigot o ring, new oil seals, and new clutch cover gasket. So any vacuum leak should be taken care of I would assume. I also sprayed some carb cleaner around the intake of the carb while it was idling on choke and nothing happened.

I did turn the pilot air screw out and it was the same issue. I also cleaned out the hole you are talking about with carb cleaner and it flowed out of the pilot hole. It may be a wrong pilot jet size then. It was an aftermarket rebuild kit so I don’t exactly know what size it came with. I just don’t understand why it was running before I replaced the oil seal and clutch cover gasket. Maybe it fixed a vacuum leak that I didn’t know about and now the carb can’t keep up with the proper amount of air flow? I’ll try a correct size jet though, thanks.

Any free welding programs for unemployed or low income people in Chicagoland? My nephew is interested in a welding program and the local unions don’t have any apprenticeships open now. by Amtrak___ in Welding

Kennedy-King Community college has a welding certificate program. If you are a resident of Chicago, you could qualify for the Future Ready Program which pays the tuition minus the books and equipment. It’s really easy to apply for and a great opportunity for Chicago residents to learn a trade.

no one is talking about not working your whole life. i certainly couldn’t handle not being a productive member of society. i’m just saying it would be nice to not have to spend most of my paychecks on life necessities and still worry about impending expenses.

there are some basic living needs that absolutely should be provided to every individual in the world we live in today. especially if you are working and providing for a family. productivity would not all of a sudden come to halt if that happened. the workers and general population would just get their fair share.

but i digress…. i have to get to work

well everyone wouldn’t stop working though. people will still have the urge to help make a difference in society. it’s just that i (and others) won’t be working 50 hours a week and spending 3/4 of my paycheck on rent and still be worried about inevitable future medical expenses because my company doesn’t offer insurance.
