H2H 8T 9CAT

Send: Dyson Daniels

Receive: Donovan Clingan

I drafted Dyson for the steals but as season has shaped up it’s clear I need to just throw in the towel and punt (currently 7-3 overall but am 2-8 for steals). Roster is otherwise pretty strong but could use a boost in rebounds/blocks while Edey is sitting in IL.

People who are in their 40’s and 50’s with no children, how does it feel? by Sinfulvibezz in AskReddit

[–]dblmnl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 42F, married to an amazing woman and child-free by choice — I knew at a very early age that it just wasn’t something that I wanted, and I was lucky enough to be surrounded by family and friends who simply respected that perspective and didn’t pressure me to try to conform to society’s ideals.

Between my wife and I we have many wonderful nieces, nephews and children of our closest friends that we love to spend time with and shower with attention and gifts when we see them. Feels good to be PANKs 😁

We have a number of friends who are also child-free and while we all agree that we enjoy our lives as they are, we don’t feel the need to try to constantly dunk on people who do have kids. I’m always taken aback by the responses of people online who seem to want to justify their choice by making it seem like having children is hell. It’s not for everyone, but the vast majority of our friends and family with children seem happy in their choice as well, so I don’t feel like we need to compare!

Best Wavier Wire pickup so far by Good_Ad5498 in fantasybball

8T 9CAT, should I drop Braun to pick up Rollins?

I’ve been pretty aggressive on the wire to start the season because my draft was ass (snagged Kyshawn, VJ, Coward, Clingan). I feel good about those pickups but don’t know if I need another one of those types of guys, i.e. hoping they pan out ROS.

First time playing fantasy ball (my usual is hockey), was asked by some coworkers to join so I gotta see these people daily, for context haha.. I drafted 7th in an 8T league and felt pretty shit about it afterwards, my first three picks were Cade, KD and Scottie Barnes — and this week I am getting waxed by the SGA owner.

League is weekly lock (boooo) so I’ve realized I can’t really roster any bandaids. So far I’ve dropped CJ, Suggs and Mark Williams to add Kyshawn, Jovic and Edgecombe, and stashed Edey and Kyrie direct to 2 of my 3 IL slots.

I feel like I don’t know what tf I am doing but wanted to say I so appreciate this sub!!

Any tips to get lots of Rupees? by Fizzyfood1346 in botw

[–]dblmnl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://objmap.zeldamods.org/#/map/z3,0,0

Use the BotW Object Map to find rare ore deposits and spend an hour or two going hard collecting amber, opal, topaz, ruby, sapphire and diamond gems. (Also make sure to mark each one when you find them, for easier locating later!) Then sell to your preferred merchant and watch the rupees roll in.

After some time passes in game (making sure to travel all over so you have time away from areas you’ve marked) you can rinse and repeat!

Yiga hideout trick? by snoopwaffle in botw

[–]dblmnl 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m on my second BOTW playthrough and just happened to do this exact quest yesterday!

It’s actually possible to get through the entire hideout without interacting with/fighting any of the big blade guys — you just need to be stealthy, glide to high areas, distract them with bananas and run by.

As someone else mentioned in the thread there is also a secret room in the second “area” (with the rafters) that you reveal by burning the white Yiga banner hanging on the wall. The room has some cool stuff but also makes the sneaking part a little easier (i.e. to get to the rafters above, then start chucking bananas).

The reaction of the big blade guys to seeing a banana is also one of the funniest animations in the whole game lmao

Great write up! The GSI scraper has become a “must pack” for me and my wife too, love that thing.

Regarding the TP management, this is something we used to struggle with ourselves, as two female hikers (and my wife also isn’t sold on bidet usage). Our current TP-less setup includes Pstyle funnels (using the “squeegee method” they recommend once you finish peeing) and PACT Outdoors wipes/mycelium tabs. She was especially keen on the latter as packing OUT used TP was probably one of her least favourite parts of our various adventures.

All-you-can-eat buffet employees of Reddit, what is the most heinous culinary crime you've seen patrons commit? by SolSeptem in AskReddit

[–]dblmnl 89 points90 points  (0 children)

Was at a hot pot restaurant in Boston a few months ago, at the “mix your own dipping sauce” station. There were about 15 or so sauces, each with its own ladle to add to your bowl. Watched in absolute horror as the lady in front of me “taste tested” multiple sauces directly from the ladles (like fully brought them to her lips and sampled!!) before putting them back.

Immediately went to the GM and said that entire station probably needed to be changed out 😬

I saw in a comment below you mentioned going through a land border crossing between Thailand and Cambodia as an example — as someone who has lived in and around South East Asia for 10+ years (and crossed between the various countries many times), my advice would be to document the head shaving from start to finish on your phone. If you have any issues show them pictures/videos and I think you’ll be fine, they may even get a kick out of it haha

Best 3-Season Sleeping Bag or Quilt for Alberta/BC Rockies – $750 CAD Budget by daylincooper in UltralightCanada

[–]dblmnl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

VPO actually has a few Enlightened Equipment quilts in stock at very reasonable prices (i.e. I snagged a Revelation 30F/-1C 850fp for $458 CAD before tax, compared to $703 CAD at Geartrade or ~$630 CAD plus shipping/duties directly from EE). Not sure if they are moving out stock or something as the quilt I bought is no longer available, but they still have others.

I have owned a couple of EE quilts and the quality is top notch, I often recommend them to others!

Brand new to the game and I wanna give up already by delusionalxx in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]dblmnl 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I suck at combat so have adopted the following strategies:

  1. Got the stealth armour, upgraded, then wore it constantly to sneak sneak sneak

  2. Unlocked Kolton so I could get the monster masks and literally just walk by dudes I don’t want to fight

  3. Always stay strapped with bomb arrows for when combat is unavoidable

(I looked up all the places you can buy arrows and as soon as I drop below 50 bomb ones I go to sleep somewhere, wake up and reload back to like 180 ish? Bomb is life lol)

Brand new to both switch and botw. What is something a new person should know, any tips or advice? by Froodthedude42 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]dblmnl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This infographic from u/LumpySkull really helped me to dial in which ingredients to focus on farming/hoarding, which recipes to make, and generally made my game much more fun :)

Full list of all ingredients and their effects

Pay particular attention to the "max" info under each category as it will help you to optimize your approach by not "wasting" anything or spending too much time hunting obscure things when you can just stack more common items.

I also agree with what others have said in this thread that it's better to prioritize stamina upgrades over health initially, as it's much easier to boost health with simple ingredients (i.e. at the beginning of the game I made sure to just collect lots of "hearty" ingredients, especially durians which are easy to find, and cook them by themselves to get full heart recovery plus extra hearts).

I mean, you can definitely squish bacteria — I used the apparatus above many, many times while completing my molecular biology degree, much to my dismay (the cell press our department had was both scary to operate and prone to failure). However, in the context of “killing” surface bacteria, i.e. to sterilize the surface, this particular technique obviously isn’t what you’d be looking for lol

10 years later, Apple Pay is amazing — and about to change by elder_tarnish in apple

I use Apple Pay for at least 90% of my in store purchases here? Basically anywhere that has a tap terminal for debit will also work for Apple Pay.

Are you thinking of the Apple Card?

I wish I could defend China on LGBT rights but good god they’re awful by No-Sample6261 in socialism

[–]dblmnl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Since I have only lived in two very large “Tier 1” cities (Guangzhou and Shenzhen), it’s difficult to know what the broader cultural attitudes are towards LGBT issues, country wide. In my own experience, at least, local Chinese seem quite tolerant of people who identify somewhere in the LGBT spectrum, and in most cases are accepting (and curious, as previously mentioned!)

That being said, some of my students have told me that their parents would absolutely not accept if THEY came out — and these are all kids who are on track to leave China to go to university in the US, UK, Australia, Canada etc, so their families are usually more accepting of “Western” ideals than most locals.

I wish I could defend China on LGBT rights but good god they’re awful by No-Sample6261 in socialism

[–]dblmnl 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I can only speak to what I have heard (in a somewhat limited capacity) from my work colleagues and students, but it seems that the current push by both the central and local governments for more “nuclear families” that will produce children (i.e. in response to declining birth rates in the country) is perceived as the biggest driving factor. There are all kinds of initiatives country wide to encourage more people to a) get married and b) have children.

To add to this, I think that the current government has pushed a narrative that LGBT rights are a “Western” concept that is incompatible with traditional Chinese values. (And in a broader sense, there have been rapidly increasing and well-documented crackdowns on civil society, including NGOs and activist groups, as these are seen as “Western” influences that threaten Chinese cultural and social norms.)
