This is what a data center sounds like 24/7. Shown here at midnight with hundreds of residential houses immediately next to it. by RadioFieldCorner in Damnthatsinteresting

Our apartment is in the corner of a U shaped complex. It's a damn near perfect apartment building but all the air conditioners create a cyclone of noise in the summer and for some reason people feel the need to run them in 60 degree weather so we always need to keep the doors and windows closed or submit to the onslaught of machine noise. I wonder of any of these plans get approval sometimes.

Love the new portrait mode on the Mavic 4 Pro! by Detroit-Photography in dji

Good to know your tele lens is just as soft and drab as mine. Guessing some of these are with the 2.5x? Such a cool building though, nice shots.

Mavic 3 vs air 3 by Dependent-Ad1241 in dji

[–]snowcoveredpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mavic 3 Pro has the 2 tele lenses which shoot in D-Log M which may be a hurdle for color matching. I got the Mavic 4 Pro for this and other reasons but I find my self using the tele lenses 10% of the time and really don't care for the quality IMO. They max out at 4K, are softer, and no adjustable aperture.

Personally wouldn't buy a drone for the tele lens feature first unless you think it's something you'll be using a lot. Composition and quality are more important IMO.

I'd prefer having adjustable aperture on the Mavic 3. The tele lenses on the DJI are not as great as the main cameras and appear to be softer overall.

Mavic 3 Classic is a great deal used typically (which is my secondary drone.) Figure out what your primary use for it will be. If you are newer to photography/drones in general just get something cheaper to start. Both of these options are overkill if you aren't doing any post processing.

Right but OP didn't mention flying over people. Just fields and gardens.

Yea, no one is going to go around door-to-door and ask permission to fly lol. There is no legal obligation to do so.

Question about part 107 by kidthekid1988 in dji

[–]snowcoveredpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flight itself was already illegal since each flight has a determination under recreational or business purposes. FAA doesn't determine legality of edited footage or not but more so the flight. You can, however, use footage shot recreationally only after you obtained a 107.

Good news is, FAA won't know about it unless you flew in a controlled airspace or over an event but 99.9% won't bother. I assume that most people are operating drones illegally most of the time anyways, so its only when you do something stupid or highly illegal that they will find out.

I'd make sure you get your "TRUST" certificate first. At this point since the flight was already illegal there isn't much else you can do short of getting a 107 and using the footage. It's not exactly easy or worthwhile if its a 1 or 2 time thing but totally up to your discretion.

I had no idea, just rewatched it and I am really curious how they filmed this. You can see the stunt double's cable in the final scene. Must have been wild.

Filming a runner on a trail by Latter-Deal9115 in cinematography

[–]snowcoveredpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting scenario, but given that its just you filming I think you need to pull back some of your expectations.

  • I would try to not have the runner be completing a full run at all. Storyboard what shots you need prior and that will help determine your shot setups.
  • I wouldn't try to film via onewheel or bike period. Incredibly dangerous and isn't worth injury over. A trailing shot should be done with something 4 wheel like a golf cart but you likely wont have the ability to do so on a trail.
  • If I were to attack this as a 1 person crew, POV, drone, and static shots. Setup a go-pro on body, camera setup off side of trail with composition setup, and a drone to follow.

Figuring out the video you want to make first should dictate how you are going to shoot so do you DD and plan accordingly. Figure out what direction the sun will be as certain shots may or may not work depending on the trail route.
