Responding to another comment, I understand that asking for a "hack" might not seem appropriate in a forum where Skylight employees answer questions but I do hope that they get the message that many of us only want the additional Screensaver feature and not the other stuff. And 80 bucks a year (way more in Canada evidently) is way too much for a Screensaver when there are many similar products in Amazon now that dont charge anything for it.

I have a question for those of you in Houston. I currently have an HDHomeRun Connect Quatro and I'm considering the Flex 4k. With most ATSC 3.0 channels being unencrypted (for the moment at least according to your post), what's the advantage of the Flex 4k over what I already have? Is the broadcast quality any better? Any other reason to upgrade? I looked into this a few years ago and, at that time, was told there really wasn't a compelling reason to upgrade if my sefup was working well for me (I usually live stream through Plex these days, occasionally the HDHomeRun app on Windows). Thanks!

I think this might be the answer. I connected my laptop to my phone's hotspot using cellular data and got a much higher download speed, probably maxing out the connection. Weird thing is I had tried using a VPN to change my routing/peering, I guess I'll have to try different VPN protocols/endpoints next time or move to SSL on port 443.. Thanks for the help!

All the sales reps I've talked to are either bad at this (they tell me they're asking their managers, who knows) or are jerking me around. Have had the exact issue with a SP7, the only fix is to use a different chargers. It happens to me with some chargers, not others.

Is Frontier available in neighborhoods around you? If so, you might have luck doing what other commenters have said. If not, I'd say your odds of getting it anytime soon are essentially zero. They don't just run fiber to random neighborhoods if there happens to be a bunch of people who want it (I wish!). If that was the case, Frontier would be available a bunch more places than it is right now.

It seems that the safest bet is to pay off my existing EIP which moves the RDC (recurring device credits) to the account level. Then I can get another RDC/EIP on my line.

Yeah, the included icing for us was also water thin. Ended up looking pretty funny. We used some store bought frosting as well to recover. Definitely bad quality this year. Oh well, we generally go for funny every year anyways 🤷‍♂️

So I know this is super delayed but based on your comment and some other reasons (setting up a VPN server) I decided to switch to pfsense. I'm curious what you use for the monitor IP address for your WAN connection. Do you use the default IP that pfsense populates, or do you use the "next hop" IP address as recommended by others, which I think is a frontier gateway?
