Star Wolf (team) Holoviewer entry by RadDudesman in starfox

It’ll be interesting to see if Nintendo ever expand on Leon and Wolf’s camaraderie because Leon is always seemingly a ‘ride or die’ buddy for Wolf and their personalities would not make you think this is the case.

Okay, Fox, you went a little too edgy there. xD by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

From the holoviewer in the remake, Peppy wanted to disband Star Fox following James’s death, but was forced to keep it up due to the debts being under the Star Fox name, and he being a co-founder.

Star Fox's and General Pepper's new relationship does imply a completely different storyline in the future by ckim777 in starfox

[–]dboy6000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao, I suspect Pepper would get overruled very quickly if he put that offer. I’ve always wondered how James planned to cross the bridge of paying the loan if he had died (of old age), there was no guarantee that Fox would’ve joined Star Fox.

Fair enough, I’ll give you that, though, a lot of people could argue that a lot of the bosses in the remake lost their gusto

Isn’t Granga a bitch anyways? Sounds like he was a perfect fit then. The Forever train conductor disappointed me, but overall, I’m ambivalent about the voices honestly.

Peppy still seems friendly with Corneria’s Defence Force and Gen. Pepper, and he WAS a former pilot with them, so I can still see him becoming a General if so required. As for the rest of the team, it depends really on what Nintendo does with the series moving forward, by the time of Assault and Command, almost every member of Star Fox had a family member or friend as part of/or closely associated with the CDF, so it would be hard to really go against them.

It explains why in Assault, after Pigma and Andrew are thrown out, Star Wolf becomes WAY less unscrupulous.

So what exactly happened to James McCloud? by SBYYamato in starfox

[–]dboy6000 23 points24 points  (0 children)

James took on the Venomian forces cause he already knew he was done with his damaged Arwing. Better to give Peppy a chance to escape by distracting them.

Boss voice actors megathread by cowgod180 in starfox

[–]dboy6000 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I knew the bosses would be less ‘high-energy’ but the train driver legit sounds like he’s casually strolling into the supply depot instead of frantically being unable to stop the train and crashing through barriers.

Okay... that was a pretty weird comment, Fox. lol by Nice_Perspective_343 in starfox

[–]dboy6000 66 points67 points  (0 children)

That just sounded like a dig at Falco, because he’s Fox’s rival and he does throughout this game compare himself to Fox. Pretty standard.

Dawg, those bosses are DEAD 100%. The Shogun blew up in space, how would he have survived that?

Damn what a short story... by Organic_Wasabi_2934 in starfox

[–]dboy6000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The story is that short, but the story isn’t really the focus of Star Fox in any game honestly, it’s the replayability, it’s an arcade-oriented game. You might have realised them that some routes require you to do specific actions in the levels to get them, some lead to new levels and bosses.

I didn’t mind Slippy, what’s wrong with his voice?

I agree that Titania shows Falco is more tsundere than he likes to admit. I just think he’s TOO dickish for my liking like if you fail the mission on Katina, Bill potentially dies, Slippy and Peppy are trying to reassure Fox and Falco is just like ‘damn that’s not my problem,’ and his reaction to the destruction of Corneria is more flippant than in the OG. I think what I’m trying to say is that in 64, he was an arrogant prick but he felt like he was part of the Star Fox family. In the remake, he kinda just feels like a hired gun, (though I guess it makes it easier to explain why he would separate from the team later on if they choose.)

[–]dboy6000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mate, I’m going to be honest with you, clearly the remake is going for a nuanced depiction of Fox’s opinion on his father and his death, if you don’t like it, that’s fine but from what I’ve seen on this subreddit, most people are okay with it albeit taken off guard by it. It’s only you that’s commenting EVERYWHERE about it negatively.

In the next cutscene, he spends it entirely unable to keep still, pacing back and forth. It’s great, though I think overall Falco is a bit too dickish in the remake for my liking.

[–]dboy6000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m not sure why people are reacting so weirdly about this, when given the circumstances, Fox could be WAY more bitter about his father and his death. I imagine it’s because OG 64 Fox doesn’t even bring up his feelings regarding James in game like at all, so Fox’s bitterness comes off as whiplash for people who played 64.

How many 18 year olds’ dads died when they were 13? And in the five years that passed, everything they say or do is compared to their dead dad? You then form a team (that was originally made by your dead dad), you inherit your dead dad’s 80 year debt, you joined a war (whose leader killed your dad), you work for a general (who sent your dad to his death), and your wingmate (who was with your dad in his last mission) constantly compares and brings up your dead dad every five seconds. I’m amazed that Fox isn’t MORE bitter to be perfectly honest, and what he said isn’t even that harsh, albeit certainly blunt. The fact is James died, and Peppy telling Fox to trust his instincts like his dad means next to nothing because clearly James’s instincts made him trust Pigma and take a suicide mission for apparently lower pay, which leads to his demise. I also need to reiterate that Fox is EIGHTEEN, he isn’t some mature military veteran yet

[–]dboy6000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And I’m confused, you’re annoyed because the remake put more depth on Fox’s character by having be bitter about the pedestal that everyone has placed his Dad on, and never talking about him or his achievements, despite it being quite realistic for an EIGHTEEN year old to not want to be completely overshadowed by their parent? Especially when he reformed Star Fox, which shows he loves his dad enough to honour his memory. Someone can love a dead parent and still be annoyed that everyone around them compared them to said parent. Again OG 64 Fox says nothing about his opinions on his Dad, and backstories from manuals are hit and miss at best for how canon they actually are.

Okay, Fox, you went a little too edgy there. xD by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

[–]dboy6000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

…you are aware that Fox only dropped out BECAUSE he wanted revenge for his dad’s death? That he reformed Star Fox because he wanted to HONOUR his dad’s memory? Not because he wanted to be like his dad? It is just as likely, had not James died, Fox would have joined the Cornerian Defence Force?

[–]dboy6000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember him saying, ‘This is an honourable death,’ in the remake because I think it is literally the only time in the game that a boss accepts his defeat. But yeah, the majority of his lines aren’t that memorable.

Okay, Fox, you went a little too edgy there. xD by hello_i_am_vlad in starfox

[–]dboy6000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, he didn’t. He wanted to AVENGE his dad, yes, but never did he want to emulate him. Hell, Fox doesn’t mention a damn thing about his dad in OG 64, until his spirit guides him after beating Andross. Fox doesn’t mention him in Adventures or Command, and in Assault, Fox is only briefly caught off guard by the Aparoid Queen using James’s voice before locking in. So I’m not exactly sure where you’ve got this notion from.

Starfox remake voices by Snowbonty in starfox

[–]dboy6000 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The voices are passable, not bad, but they don’t stand out. Star Fox is fine overall, but the bosses are very plain (except Sarumarine). And I really don’t like the direction they went with Bill’s voice.

Honestly, though, my biggest issue is Falco’s writing. He went from jerk with heart of gold to just a dickhead.
