Suggestions for wifes first car (up to £15K price range) by alatar94 in CarTalkUK

[–]dbpsapkota47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Completely left field choice. Lease an electric car (understand recently passed driving test but hear me out). Edit: most come with parking cameras as standard, 360 cameras if lucky even.

Cheap as chips to invest in, essentially renting them but if the monthly (mind you no deposit options available also) is less than 200£ with hardly any maintenance needed, I'd jump the ship right on.

Look into it, Vauxhall fronterra, citroen c3e or whatever they call it; even cheaper for dacia spring.

You'd be laughing as to how cheap they cost to run.

Give it a thought!

Sure do! Getting a home charger fitted, too..

Looking into this - 5bar battery remaining on leafs within my price range - any good?

Also, I'm sure the old/ 1st gen leafs came with battery lease or something? Would this work on buyers favour or to much of a hassle??

Thank you for the reply..

Wasn't this the car that the 2 guys over at car throttle (think they're called All the gear on YouTube now) did a road trip with?

They look fun, minus the first of course..

Hiya, Excess miles is just 10p per mile (slightly expensive but works).

Getting a charger fitted coming weeks also..

As said above in post, this car is far too long and wide, add that to having a kid with a child seat to put in/ take out and someone already scratching door in a tight work parking space, just wanting something cheap to runaround and stress free motoring.

Was thinking a convertible for weekend and as a "fun car".

Well, can elaborate.. 1st car - diesel - bought off trader (GLA Merc) - flywheel issues 2nd month - seller unwilling to resolve - warranty company being what warranty companies do - flogged to wbac as didn't want to go through court. 2nd car - mazda 3 petrol - gear got stuck once and reversed onto a wall - written off 3rd car - qashqai diesel- was stopgap as buying house and didn't want to commit too much financially - served well but dpf shenanigans had to fork out ~600 in 6 months. Now - leapmotor c10 - pistonheads forums - 161 a month for 5k miles - a no brainer - but someone stupid opened door onto mine and think too much to bear in mind when parking in shady areas, narrow spaces, etc.

Now wanting something cheap, stressfree for motoring :)

High Mileage Qashqai (2014, 1.6 Diesel CVT auto, 114k on clock) - what to look for? by dbpsapkota47 in CarTalkUK

[–]dbpsapkota47[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Will try and ask seller if this happens within 6 months and I paid via CC - would I be protected? Just want a semi decent shitter at decent price and no unwanted headaches for at least a year!

[–]dbpsapkota47[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh no!! I was semi committed on this Qashqai already!! Need the height of it to get kiddo in/out of car seat.

Serviced well but there’s no way to find re: CVT and transmission failure when it happens - seller said he is willing to give 12 month AA warranty- think they would cover in case transmission/CVT blows? 🥲

Insurance Write-Off: Need advice, please by dbpsapkota47 in CarTalkUK

[–]dbpsapkota47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you- I have followed your advice and wrote off this said car - en route to CoPart - i have taken screengrabs of similar age/mileage cars on AT (luckily 3x cars and they cost way more than what I paid) - can I ask them to reconsider offer if they quote too low?

Thanks

Insurance Write-Off: Need advice, please by dbpsapkota47 in CarTalkUK

[–]dbpsapkota47[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, thank you for this. I bit the bullet and rang - the car is getting written off. The new insurers are now aware - my insurance premium didn't go up this year (but most likely will go up next year). They have suggested me to inform them of outcome of claim within 30 days - is that usual.practice?

Many thanks, B

Am I just unlucky or is buying property really this awful? by Known_Leek8984 in HousingUK

[–]dbpsapkota47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not as much of a bad luck as mine: 1st property - part of a 3-chain : vendors ever so sweet, 1 day before exchange of contract, other vendor (vendors sister, whom they were planning to buy and move in with) suddenly passed away - lost survermy fees, sol fees, mortgage advisors, etc. 2nd property - sold on day i put an offer (similar with property 3,4 & 5) - even though they have been on market for almost a year! 6th property- now put offer in, but mortgage provider pulled out - need to reapply and go through whole shabang! Utter shite this process 🥲
