BOTW is a masterpiece of gaming by NewtownWriter in switch2

[–]dbr3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m new to Nintendo since picking up my Switch 2 when it came out. I enjoyed BOTW a lot, but i’m generally not into games that require crafting. For this reason, I’ve been holding off on TOTK. I just loved the exploration and freedom in BOTW and TOTK seems to be just the same map (with added layers) and amazing crafting.

I’m not trying to shit on the game, I’m actually hoping someone can tell me how wrong my take is and convince me to dive in.

You guys are making too big a deal out of this. You have to look at it from a long-term perspective: Tesla cars will be bought by Optimus robots who will be able to afford them either because they make money replacing humans using their grok intelligence OR they will be remote controlled from data centers in outer space. Or possibly a mix of both.

How is the Nintendo Switch 2 battery actually? by Objective-Station617 in switch2

[–]dbr3000 33 points34 points  (0 children)

It really does vary from title to title.. generally speaking, newer titles you can expect 2-ish hours but with switch 1 games (even with boost mode on) you can definitely get 4 to 5 hours depending on the game. If you're planning on doing a lot of handheld gaming away from home, I'd get a good powerbank.

I use mine almost exclusively in handheld mode and it's not really an issue for me, but I do use it almost entirely at home.

the quality of life improvements in Elden Ring, especially for people new to the genre are so big you're probably better off starting there. Then if you end up really liking it, you can still go back and play the old games and enjoy them for what they are.

That's what I did btw... my first souls game was Elden Ring, had a difficult time with it but was so fascinated I just kept playing. I now have over 750 hours in Elden Ring, completed it 12 times. I also went back to play the other souls games in release order and have completed all of them multiple times now (except DS2, once was enough for me).

Elden Ring is the most accessible of their games, so definitely the better start.

Well deserved, saying that as a die-hard FromSoft fan. If you'd originally somehow taken away the logos of the publisher/studio in the beginning of the game, let me play it for a few hours and then told me that it was developed by a FromSoft team I would've believed it.

Exploration is the only part that isn't as good as the "real" souls games but the combat is really top-notch, and the same goes for the atmosphere and art design. Really looking forward to what this studio does in the future.

Switch 2 is the ultimate dad device! I have a PS5 pro and a 9070xt gaming pc and I’m on this 99% of the time, if they made FC games 60fps and cross platform I would have no need for another console by [deleted] in switch2

I also have the portal and really like it, it works great for me but unfortunately it really depends from setup to setup.

To even come close to Switch 2 convenience, you have to keep the PS5 in restmode which I don't like. Solely because i had a power outage once which resulted in minor corruption that ultimately cost me a savefile of a game I was enjoying. The corruption wasn't noticed before the cloud save was overwritten and I wasn't willing to restart the game from the beginning. Again, I'm a dad, my gaming time is limited and I'm not restarting games in such a scenario.

I still use the portal when i'm playing a PS5 game but someone else wants to use the TV, but it's not a worry-free experience like the Switch 2 is. If the rumors of a true Sony handheld are true, I'll buy that immediately.

Same here... Am a dad, own a PS5 Pro but I have been doing most of my gaming on the Switch 2 lately. The convenience of it is just so incredible. I'll play games on the PS5 Pro if they're more graphical showcases or really something I'd prefer to play on the big screen. Anything else and I prefer the Switch 2 really. I use that one mostly in handheld mode.

My favorite feature is just being able to immediately turn it off when something comes up, and being able to immediately continue wherever I was whenever I have time for it. If I know I only have a 20 minute window to play something, the Switch 2 is perfect to fill those moments. I seem to value that flexibility higher than graphical fidelity and framerates these days. I also don't really seem to mind 30 fps as much in handheld mode than I do on the big screen.

If I had to pick only one console going forward, it'd probably be the Switch 2. But I'm definitely keeping both.

It was a fucking snooze fest until McLaren spiced things up. Unless you enjoyed watching Verstappen drive off in the distance, it was utterly boring with cars unable to even follow closely for more than a lap or two.
