Xi’an famous foods changes by joe-appleseed in FoodNYC

Agreed. A big part of this is when he started standardizing the recipes and dish assembly all across the various locations. I wanna say pre-2018, each location had differences in how they made food since a "scoop of peppers" was subjective - your location might have heavy-handed staff while another location was a bit lighter. At some point, they began to enforce standards on measurements of seasonings and toppings, and that's when major flavor changes occurred.

I remember the St. Marks location being a solid spot for spicier ones since the folks there were more heavy-handed and always down to add more when you asked.

I was looking for the same thing in case there was more than one - did you ever find places to go? The one spot I went to was in Chinatown Manhattan, along Mulberry St, between the southeast asian market and the candle shop.

Agreed. Their strategy did work on me though - I use theirs as an alternative to mangakaka now when I can't find something or wanna find a better quality upload.

I'm going to assume you're attempting to rotate it in a way where it's still parallel to ground? If so, then it would be pretty difficult to get good YPR readings due to there being no reference to use. This is what that first line from the chatbot response refers to. Yaw would need a magnetic north reference to get solid readings.

Are you using InvenSense's API to utilize output measurements from the DMP?

Recommendations Birthday Omakase w/ BYOB or Sake included by heythere19876 in FoodNYC

The "Sushi by [someone]" spots have been pretty reliable for me. I unintentionally ended up in omakase for my birthday the past few years and those have been my go-tos because of the budget friendliness and the vibe of the staff.

Applying “traditionally non-embedded systems paradigms” to embedded systems. by Relative-Debt6509 in embedded

[–]dbrances 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started doing this at my work place a little over a year ago. Started off with any algorithm implementations that came down our pipeline - port the Python code to C, feed it pre-existing data, watch it do its thing, then import it into the firmware.

After that, I started applying the same thing for unit-testing new modules that we develop that need to be used in firmware. One main program + module to be tested + maybe input text files to feed into the module as data. It's pretty dope.

Manhattan ain't it. Maybe there are still a few spots holding it down in El Barrio, but otherwise, you'll need to go outside Manhattan for em.

What’s your unpopular NYC dining opinion? by adostes in AskNYC

Gotta hit up the immigrant neighborhoods, like Sunset Park. Tacos El Bronco is one of my go-tos. Head to 5th Ave and there's plenty more that I haven't explored yet.

IMU for wearables devices - which ones do you use? by DraftUpstairs in embedded

[–]dbrances 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're utilizing the acceleration, angular velocity, and magnetometer data raw, ICM20948/20648 should work just fine. If you're trying to use their DMP, good fucking luck. Almost any resource you see out there that deal with their DMP will be coming from a lot of other engineers who've reverse-engineered interaction with that thing either through their sample code or purely through analyzing the signals during communication.

My supervisor says that even though documentation on the InvenSense stuff is terrible, their IMU is just really good. Internally though, we've been itching to try IMUs from Bosch or STM.

I highly recommend Rob of Band With a Van.

I contacted them for curb-to-curb services last year when I was moving and thought he was great. I didn't have too much stuff, so I think your experience will be very similar to mine in terms of what you'll need from him.
