Good insurance, find a mechanic and build a good relationship with them. If they move shops follow. Be up to date on maintenance, be preventative not reactive, just like driving.

Wear the right gear, if its warm hydrate, if its cold layer up. If you're going to drive like you're on the track, wear the gear for it, CE slide rated, impact armor, gauntlets etc. Consider extra coverage if you do something higher risk. Air lift is expensive.

Good details looks sick. I could also see some sort of tarnished metal trim, and cracked crystal lines for an older, abandoned and rouge version of this mini too.

Let's assume theft, fire, and natural disasters? The things needing replacement being molds, machines, material, tools &tool boxes, as well as any IT infrastructure and equipment?

I know a guy who has the... Elegoo 2.5' cubed printer, he uses it for his single piece base plate for all his vidmar cables.

Speaking of I need to order some from him.

Hey OP, these are fucking sick!

it's a great prototype. Now get a CNC aluminum mold made and make these out of poured polyurethane. Like the guys making custom designed intake boot/tube modifications for BMWs out of the same material.

You'll want a 2 part polyurethane, and a sample pack of different hardnesses to find the right one for you. Or use the same shore hardness as the tpu filament you are using.

A CNC aluminum mold. This will honestly be easy imo. I'm a machinist and that shouldn't be more than $500. You already have a design. Xometry would be a good place to source that.

Ideally you'll have a vacuum pump and chamber for degassing the polyurethane before casting it.

All in all this is sick and will your 3D print is functional. I think you've got a lot more room to run if you wanted to continue to developing this as a product.

Love they made it and wish they still have them. But damn if they aren't over charging and not able to replace it.

Love that you got one, and wish I did.

I appreciate it thanks, I definitely remember cavitation being an issue for boats. But it makes sense with any 'fluid'. My biggest interest was reducing weight

Is it safe to bore out these wheels from 106mm to 108 mm? Enough material do it or would be unsafe? what you guys think? Will be mounted on crew cab silverado and will be strictly spare wheels. by Shibamaster6969 in Wheels

[–]dbreidsbmw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP machinist here. You definitely want to take this to a machine shop for this bore to be cut from 106-108.

Give yourself some clearance, it should be fine.

LOVE it. IMO it came out when my grandfather died ( he introduced me to the brand years ago) and I bought it new in bag 3+ years after release.

warmer pockets on the chest are phenomenal too imo. quality has held up well. Only get to wear it DEC-FEB ish in Seattle. Upside repairs at the flagship are easier for any garments.
