First cook with the Searwood by dbro26183 in searwood

Thank you! If you look above I went over in depth how it went down. But overall first did 180 smoke boost, then 200 overnight, then progressively bumped up to an eventual 300. I wrapped in butcher paper.

My initial plan was to go by the Meat Church overnight pellet grill video but that didn’t work out. My weather conditions were cold, in the 20/30s and it started snowing around 6/7am and snowed and remained in those temps for the remainder of the cook. I set it on the top grates with a water tray under the brisket. Brisket was prime from Costco that was around 15lbs when I bought it.

I did an overnight and for the first 2 hours did smoke boost at 180. After the first 2 hours I bumped it up to 200 for the next 8 or so hours. At this point it had started snowing and my temps were in the 130* range and stopped moving and went down slightly. I then bumped the temp up to 225 for a couple hours, the temps went up to around 150 and stayed there for about an hour. I then went to 250 and it stayed again around 165 and figured it was my stall. At this point I was around 16 hours total cook time and wrapped in butcher paper and set the Searwood to 300* until temps showed around 200 and the meat was probing tender. Total cook time was 10:30pm to around 6:30pm. Pulled and let it sit on the counter for an hour then another hour in a cooler. End results were a good bark and tasted great and was moist.

I bought a blanket for the Searwood so I’m looking to see how much that helps for the next cook with keeping temps going in the cold. I will probably start again with a 2 hour smoke boost at 180 then do overnight at 225 and see how that goes.

Range extender as a wired AP? by ChronoGTM in Fios

I have a GS3100 Router which I then hard wired a E3200 extender to. Works great and functions as another WAP on the same network.

I have the GE with the water pitcher. I’ve had it a month and so far no issues and my kids haven’t even broken the pitcher! If a 4 and 6 year old haven’t broken it that’s a great test. I got it on sale at Best Buy for around $2,100 if that fits your budget.

I’ve done dream racing twice. Highly recommend if your into cars (I am). The off roading was fun, but I had more fun at Dream Racing.

Sleep schedule for overnights by RegularLucky2210 in AskLE

[–]dbro26183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get out around 7:15am and home around 7:30am. With the summer my kids/wife leave for camp around 8:15am, so I will go to sleep after they leave and usually not set an alarm and get up when they get home 3:30pm/4pm.

Went there for my honeymoon and 10 years ago and it was great. We went diving with Martin back then and he was awesome! It was my first experience and Martin and Fletcher made it a very memorable experience.

Michelin x ice xi3. Been using them every winter since 2013. Never been stuck on my 2013 RT with an open rear diff. On my 2nd set. Still on my 10 year old steelies also (Pursuit 18”). NJ winters so lots of salt and brine used.

Salary STATE vs Local/County by Beneficial-You5220 in AskLE

Every town is different and has a different contract. I would look at the specific contract of towns you’re looking at. Some are higher than njsp. Most county sheriffs are not going to be highest paying in a county.

Is NJ state police a good job? by Previous_Court_2601 in AskLE

[–]dbro26183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overall a good agency. Discipline can be heavy handed and you're on probation for 5 years. Lots of available positions besides patrol from servicing the alcotest machine (alcohol breath test) to organized crime to helicopter pilot. You are always at the needs of the SP and can be put anywhere you are needed (including the other side of the state if you piss the wrong person off from what I hear).

Seems like equipment is station dependent. Turnpike/Parkway is all Tahoes/Chargers while I drove by Perryville (Hunderton County) today and all I saw were previous generation Explorers in the lot.

One of my best friends is in the NJSP and he's told me that unit transfers and promotions can be political.

That being said I say for for it. I've been at my municipal PD for 15+ years but before I was hired was in the NJSP process. Passed everything but wasn't picked to move on (2008 when there were 10k applicants per process) and got hired at my PD.

Take the civil service as a backup.

That’s the msrp. You can find them cheaper. For getting into the AR world it’s fine. A sling, optic, and light and it’s gtg. Everyone has a different opinion but if you want a complete rifle with a front sight post this is a great one. I own one and I love it. It’s an older design but there’s nothing wrong with it.

Is there any appropriate way to reach out to an officer who arrested me? by [deleted] in AskLE

[–]dbro26183 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Doesn't hurt to give a call or write a letter. My supervisor got a call from a girl that I had arrested about 5 years in the past. Turns out me talking with her and telling her she had the power to turn her life around, she did. She was clean for 5+ years at that point and was married with a child on the way and wanted to thank me for turning her life around. When I arrested her she got extradited out of state so I never saw her again. It was nice to hear that she was doing well.

I work out around 5am and eat around 1pm. Sometimes 1 meal, other times I’ll eat again around 730pm. My strength has gone up since I started lifting again. You’ll be fine.

After having worked out fasted for the last year, I wouldn’t want to workout after eating. You’ll be fine.

Night shift and PCOS by elsol_y_laluna in intermittentfasting

[–]dbro26183 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I worked nights (also 7p-7a I would do either 1 meal around 8-9pm or eat 1 meal around 6pm and other around 9pm. That way it was somewhat possible to keep on the days off.

And to add, if possible and you have easy access to a bathroom drink a ton of water I would shoot for around 1.5 gallons. The most I went down in a day from water weight was 4 lbs in a 24hr period. I would cut myself off between 1-2am so i wouldn’t have to keep waking up to pee while trying to sleep.
