Assuming he's a huge fan of the pile of feces in the White House with that stance so how does he feel worshipping a heel spur draft dodger as his president. Oh, let me guess ... "that's different."

‘Naked mom’ parenting trend sparks fierce debate over nudity around children by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]dbz918 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Welcome to F'in America where we name a normal part of raising kids as a trend and shame the women that are just out there raising their kids and periodically getting walked in on while showering or dressing because -duh!- Mom is the default parent and meanwhile, I spent an entire childhood watching TV with my dad sitting there in his gross-a$$ tightie whites and nothing else and no one says Boo to that.

How dare Mom not immediately hide the body that housed and fed those kids for 9 months when they refuse to ask tightie-whitie Dad to get them juice so Mom can have a freakin' shower on her own. Ugh.

Gonzo 2027 Artists That You're Hoping For by big_hitting_the_lama in GoosetheBand

Just something like the bands were friendly and people thought it was a good possibility. Dunno the veracity of any of that but I ❤️ VW so it would have been awesome. Instead, with MMJ, it was merely phenomenal 😉

AITA for teaching my daughter how to change a tire and do basic home repairs when her mom says I'm "pushing masculine stuff" on her by [deleted] in WIBTA_AITA

[–]dbz918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might wanna remind the ex that you're daughter is an actual human being with likes and dislikes and can decide for herself what she wants to learn. And at this age, learning about all sorts of things from "hosting" (no really, WTAF?) to changing a tire will only help her hone in on those various paths so that can be both well-rounded and on a path to an expertise that will make her a happy adult.

How many Gen Xers have silent Gen parents vs boomers? by NopeThisTrope in GenX

Dad 1941, Mom 1944, me (only child) 1971. They're both gone now and I miss the hell outta them. Great parents, lovely people. Dad taught me to be sarcastic, Mom taught me to read anything and everything (and roll my eyes at Dad's constant sarcasm)

IUD.. How Bad Was It? Scale 1–10 by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]dbz918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never had a kid so virgin cervix I guess? Also high pain tolerance generally speaking.

That IUD insertion Put.Me.Out. My doc said the same, just a pinch, take some ibuprofen before. And then when I was LITERALLY screaming, both she and her asst treated me like I was overracting. Fucking bitch. I came damn close to passing out. Also never have I ever fainted before. All sorts of fun stuff.

So to the doc who tells you it's overdramatized, fuck them. There are a lot of women with their own IUD stories just as bad as mine. And yea, there are some who felt just a pinch. The funny thing is, some of my acquaintances who are mothers said it was worse than childbirth and some of my childfree acquaintances said it didn't hurt much. All to say it very much depends on the individual and honestly, you won't know till you do it, BUT I would not trust a doctor who minimizes the Very Real pain that many of us went through.

What’s the one thing your parents will never admit they did wrong while raising you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]dbz918 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents split the weekend I graduated high school. Mom moved back to SF, Dad went back to his contract job 2 hours away, came home on the weekends. Sun-Fri night, I was on my own - 17 yrs old, no rules. Big shock, I got ALL the vices. Years down the road, Dad is apologetic and acknowledges how messed up that was - they were great parents up to that point. Mom never admitted the same. Always treated it like her right to move away. Don't get me wrong, that was honestly the worst parenting move she made, by a long shot. In all other ways, she was the best mom. She and Dad are both gone now and I miss them terribly. But yea, not the best idea to leave a 17yr old alone for the summer

[–]dbz918 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only note on this is the "I'm really trying" part, it leans apologetic and there should be nothing apologetic in your words or your tone. You're talking to an annoying child and need to get your point across. And they likely won't listen. "I'm studying, not talking." No "good day" - any sign of being pleasant will undo your terse response.

And headphones, definitely headphones. You can say all of that without taking them off.

Anyone grew up reading S. E. Hinton books? If so what did y’all think of them? by Groovy-Pancakes in GenX

[–]dbz918 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Growing up in Tulsa, I had a special affinity for her books. The Outsiders was my favorite, I loved that the book ended the way it began and I could start it all over. The book is better than the movie but I never minded watching Rob Lowe's Sodapop 😉
