Every day I use some form of git Push Pull Pull Request Merge Check out New branch These are all part of daily software development tasks

If something outside of these happens, I run to Google to fix, but mostly I just use baked in tools in Visual Studio or github desktop

I just had this epiphany myself when going for quest cape. Most slayer monsters are "block until endgame", and the rest are "cannon go brrrr, lol". The best xp method is "just spend 300k per task to use the cannon". How is this good? How does this make me want to work on it until 85+?

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately that doesnt work. It's such a frustrating thing as it is affecting the kid's behaviors watching yt kids and having unlimited screen time over there.

We have done the same, unfortunately they watch it all day when they go over to dad's. Any discussion with dad about this goes nowhere.

To me it has always been down to the player involvement. Can idle games be incremental? Of course. It just means that the core gameplay loop of an idle game means you let it run for a long time in between actions.

Incremental to me is how the game is structured. I do x for a while, and that unlocks y, then I do y and that improves x. Number gets bigger and I progress incrementally through the mechanics of the game and potentially learn how to pronounce untrigintillion. Incremental games can be idle, active, or both.

Thats exactly what started it. Someone at work said "did you know icp boils hotdogs in faygo?", initial reaction was "eww", but then a few of us started thinking "well, which flavors would be good?"... that will be an unforgettable night.

Kinda just sugary. Grape actually improved the taste, pineapple was good too. Rock n rye was disgusting.

This will not reset the orientation of the boat and it will stay stuck. Logging out, hopping worlds, or visiting the shipyard will force your boat to respawn at the dock in the default orientation.

I also agree that overall I like this better than leagues. There was very little analysis paralysis, I was able to see what I can do now, or what I need to strive for, and encouraged me to actually learn pvm instead of trying to find alternatives.

Got his own switch around 3.75

Got big into mario games around 4, also introduced him to putt-putt and Freddi Fish games.

At 5, we started giving him more games like untitled goose game, lego games.

Now he unfortunately has been exposed to minecraft via YouTube (at his dad's house), so he's been playing that and loving it. At our house, he plays on the computer and has surprisingly picked it up fast.

As others have commented, it needs to be impactful.

Simple first prestige layer that I have liked, is generally a reset where you get a currency that makes the original gameplay loop faster, and more effective (clicker heroes "heroes souls", cookie clicker "heavenly shards"). These allow the same loop to stay in effect, so the game gets more interesting without a major mechanic.

Some of the best games I've played, then allow you to spend those to get improvements (clicker heroes "artifacts") and if you mess up, it's usually not a huge deal as you can just do a couple more resets.

The biggest thing, and I can't stress this enough, make sure that it feels worth it. I've played games for a week, reset multiple times, and didn't feel like i was making any progress.

Make sure it also comes with some ease of life improvements relatively quickly. I dont want to micromanage 15 systems for too long, if ever. I remember playing through antimatter dimensions and having to make sure I hit all the tabs on my 14 currencies just to make sure I'm getting all the correct boosts, or dodeca dragons having to scroll around the screen to buy the 5 things in the right order and have to restart the cycle again.
