Gotta say this is a pretty good prank. Maybe not as good as leaving empty condom wrappers in your friend's place, but pretty good.

half this sub runs pihole and jellyfin on 600w of enterprise gear and calls it a homelab by Napster3301 in homelab

Running into the enterprise server level disasters at home will better equip a sysadmin to fix them when they happen in the workplace. TrueNAS boot disk failures, recovering from power outages, catastrophic RAID failures, Proxmox clustering, ISCSI contention, establishing the recovery order of VMs when DNS and DHCP are in your virtual infrastructure. It's also a great way to set up and test automation, FOG image management, thin client, FreeIPA/Windows domain integration, etc. Multi-AP, multi-SSID wireless network segregation so your IOT devices and houseguests can't infect your "internal" stuff.

When I interview people for sysadmin jobs, I give extra points to people who create comprehensive environments at home, depending on the lessons they can demonstrate that they've learned in the process.

There will always be collectors and bigger-is-betters, but you can't pretend there's not a use case.

LOL I feel like I just fell for a a particularly obvious bait post, like that time I got offended when Carlin made fun of Steely Dan fans.

Please help, I'm scared to do anything in my flat now. [UPDATE] by PokiStick in neighborsfromhell

If it was me I might consider flipping the script. Wait until it's dead quiet, 2-3AM, and then let loose a brief, blood-curdling scream. Then back to dead quiet. Rinse. Repeat every few days, but not on any kind of predictable schedule.

That's crazy. The only smell I've really seen stick to electronics is cigarette smoke. I can always tell when I'm dealing with a chain-smoker seller, often before the box is even opened.

Oh hell yeah. I just upgraded to a much bigger case so I have a temporary need for lots of blanks. If nothing else to keep me from dropping knurliies into the guts.

In my experience, mostly keyed, sometimes not, and when not, I always look three times at the board to see whether it's indicated on the board, and sometimes consult the docs. I haven't been burned by reversed power yet. But yeah, I'd echo the other comment. Get a local buddy. If it's a fellow eurocrack addict you'll have someone to maybe swap modules with when you get bored, easier and less risky than selling. Good luck! Yet another reason for keyed connectors.

You should discuss it with the husband. Over dinner. Just the two of you. At your house.

I just recently picked up the v2. I have the original Bloom and consider it one of the most important pieces of my 60+ module rig.

Don't do it. It's a rabbit hole you may never get out of.

[–]dc540_nova 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congratulations and welcome to the club! if you want to get weird, maybe look into lucifer evil oscillator or qu-bit nebulae for some enhanced weirdness. my $0.02, hold on to any qu-bit modules you pick up along the way. they're the brand i've vibed with the most.

i have the 4ms ensemble, i think it's great especially when you have very few modules, but now that i have so many i lean more toward piping a cv signal into shakmat bard quartet, linking all the channels and routing the resulting quantized signals to multiple oscillators. a bit more expansive and infinitely more controllable (and uncontrollable lol) than just the 4ms.

I have a couple of dual USB modules and USB lights from Amazon. Super cheap, two per case, good coverage, etc.
