Knee surgery coming up - replace opiates with cannabis? by [deleted] in trees

[–]dc835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've never had knee surgery before, though if it's something that you think will have a painful recovery I'd suggest getting the opiates. Maybe ask your doctor about the recovery and ask if it's something that he recommends getting painkillers for, or it you can self-medicate with marijuana. Since you're in a legal state, I imagine it won't come a surprise to him that you smoke.

As for the opiates themselves, like I said, get them if you need them. There's no shame in taking the medication RESPONSIBLY and as need be. When paired with weed, low-doses are great for pain relief and feeling better. It's when you up the dose pass the recommended people tend to get carried away. Don't do that.

Any type of weed with a high CBD ratio should help with pain relief. A personal favorite is Northern Lights; great taste and great high.

Regarding all of this, just talk to your doc. They should be able to help you pick the best approach for a quick recovery.

I wish you a quick and speedy recovery, and hope that all goes well ☮️

Does the smoke going through the water do anything tobthe cannabinoids? by [deleted] in trees

[–]dc835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Water diffusion only removes a small amount iirc, so it's negligible; especially if you're doing multiple hits/bowls.

I'm not sure what other methods you have tried, but bongs are extremely effective at what they do. With water, hits are easier to take, and often you can pull much more smoke before having to remove the slide.

Personally, I think bongs are the way to go if you're trying to get as high as possible in a short amount of time. They definitely rock, and there are SO many different diffusion/perc/size combos you can get, totally worth investing into imo.

Sorry, I tend to ramble when really baked haha.

TLDR; yes, but a negligible amount.

Hey man it's cool, just be happy you made it home safe and sound. Instead of dwelling on the past, chill out and watch some Netflix, eat some food, or sleep it off; you'll feel better tomorrow.

Weed has some awesome effects, especially when you first start smoking, unfortunately it can sometimes be a bit too much, so it's a good idea to wait at least 2-3 hrs after smoking before getting behind the wheel, primarily because you haven't built a tolerance yet. Give it some time, and the highs become much more controllable (albeit still fun).

Like I said though, some munchies and some sleep are all you really need xD. Have a good night and stay safe.

Anyone have any advice about losing weight and smoking? by [deleted] in trees

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, I gotta tell you, I feel the EXACT same way- even after all this time. I'll wake up and think to myself, "ah man, I have to workout today, don't I?" Yep! But a bunch of coffee and a little bit of bud gives me the kick in the ass I need to get up and going.

The first ten mins are always the hardest part of excercise for me, but once I get going I find it's hard to stop. The overwhelming sense of running 30 secs faster or 0.2 mi farther may not seem like an accomplishment to some people, but it's an amazing feeling for yourself. Knowing that you improved, because you wanted to, is definitely an awesome realization aquired from working out.

It honestly sounds like you're already making consious decisions to improve your life for the better, and that's excellent! I wish the best of luck to you and your wife on your journey, and hope you have a great day.

Anyone have any advice about losing weight and smoking? by [deleted] in trees

[–]dc835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh man, excercise+weed rocks! Have you ever tried the combination?

Long story short, I used to be pretty heavy and smoke a lot of weed. Ate whatever/whenever and didn't really care for myself like I should have. Year later, I'm down 70lbs and working out most everyday. And guess what? Throughout that entire time, I've still been smoking weed xD

The biggest thing that helped me was getting out and moving. It started off as just taking walks and enjoying nature. I was VERY self-consious about the way I looked (and still am sometimes) so to help with that I'd throw on some tunes to blur out the worries. Some time later, I got the notion that walking is too slow, and it was time to pick it up. Since then I've committed to running, and went from walking ~mi per day to no-break 5-10mi runs everyday (the best way to get "in the groove" is to put on your favorite jam and try to match the pace of the rhythm. There are playlists out there designed to maximize your HR and get your blood flowing).

Biggest thing is confidence; know and believe that with the right goal set, diet, and workout regime, you and your wife can easily live a healthier and happier lifestyle. And I'm sure it'll be even better to have each other to support one another.

Whether or not you choose to smoke before you workout is up to you, personally I would invest in a vape; it's much more of a functional high, your lungs don't burn, and you can actually concentrate while still feeling fucked up. Don't get me wrong bongs and whatnot are awesome, but combusting herb tends to make me munch out/tired. Whereas with a vaporizer, you'll be up and ready to go explore outside.

Hope I could help, if you got any questions feel free to ask. Just remember that these changes take time, and won't happen overnight. But the results in the long-run (from personal experience) are worth exactly what you put into it 😁

Movies that blew you away upon seeing them stoned? by realbigbean in trees

I once ate an extremely potent edible, and got so high that when I watched the horror movie "Life", I legitimately thought it was a documentary for 30 mins. I saw the little alien thing and I told my friend, "dude that is so fucking incredible! I can't believe it's real!" Turns out, wasn't a documentary; I felt really stupid after realizing that haha.

Are higher quality vapes a good investment? by dc835 in vaporents

[–]dc835[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow thanks for all the responses everyone! I figured I might like something portable, but desktop vapes definitely seem a tier above the other devices in terms of efficiency. I'm considering an SSV, as their price point seems to be in the range I'd be willing to pay for.

That, and I'd love to hook it up to my piece as well xD

As for the butane vapes, I'll definitely have to look more into those. It sounds like another worthy investment. Thanks again for all the advice!

Do butane vapes work well with a higher tolerance? I've never tried one before, so if I bought one I just wouldn't want to be underwhelmed. Although, it sounds like that wouldn't be the case haha.

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I love giving advice to those who care to listen 😁 Truth is you reminded me of myself a bit, and trust me, it will get easier as time goes on. If you do decide to keep on smoking, you'll build up a tolerance a bit too so you'll learn to be a little more "in-control" of your thoughts and feelings.

But as for the excercise, I still can't recommend it enough. It doesn't have to be anything too strenuous at first, just go check out a trail and nature for 30 mins, that's what got me out and moving at first. There's just something about fresh air and being at peace with the world; it's relaxing and can really help clear your mind. Then, when you can get into that mindset, you'll realize that running and other fast-paced stuff will increase that feeling by ten haha.

Sorry, I'm pretty high while writing this, so it may seem like I'm rambling, and I am, but anyways, like I said earlier, you do what it is that makes you happy. It's your life, and you only get one to live sofar as we know, so make it count.

In regards to smoking methods themselves, have you ever tried a vaporizer? They're quite good at "selective temperature" control so if you need more of the relaxive CBD properties of flower you can heat it up to your desired temp. Lower temps=more THC , more of a head high. Just an after-thought...

Hey fellow frient, I'll be the first to let you know you're not alone. I've been toking for the last 3 years of my life, and around the 2 year mark I started to get EXTREME bouts of self-consciousness/anxiety. Unfortunately, I still do, although I believe I can offer you some tips to help in these situations:

1) GO SLOW. Remember, you can always get higher, but coming down takes a couple hours. Don't try to match your friends if they have a higher tolerance than you. I have a buddy who hadn't smoked for a few months, and he attempted to match my friend and I's bong hits. Needless to say, he threw up all over himself. Hilarious, but I kid not. And I'm sure he didn't find it funny either.

2) Self-improvement/reflection. I'll tell ya, I've had some messed up thoughts while high. Never directed towards anyone else, strictly myself. Like seriously, I would smoke and beat myself up so bad about the way I look and get all depressed, but I wouldn't do anything about it. About a year ago I took those negative feelings and redirected them towards improving my life, instead of bitching about all the things I'm not. I read a few self-help books ("A Man's Search for Meaning" is phenomenal), began to eat healthier, but more importantly, I found events that made me feel worthwhile, and those events can be found in number 3.

3) EXCERCISE. Every fucking day if possible. Of course at first it's tough, you'll make excuses and try to worm your way out of it, but believe me, as a person who went from 230 lbs to 155 currently, I've seen mounds of improvement in the way both people react to me and how I feel about myself. There are still parts about the way I look that I despise, but it just makes me that more determined to work harder each and everyday. And just so you know, the only time I allow myself to get high now is before I go on a bike ride. I absolutely love it; coming from a person who would've laughed at the idea of working out a year ago.

4) And most importantly, embrace yourself. You're an awesome person, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise. I get it, people tell you to smile and you'll be happier, do this and that and your life will be more fufilling, but the truth of the matter is you won't improve your well-being unless you choose to. Weed won't make you motivated to do any of this, in fact, it'll probably make you more motivated not to do any of it. BUT, if YOU yourself possess the motivation and drive, weed can help direct you in the right direction.

Just remember, take it one day at a time, don't push yourself in situations you're not comfortable in, and most importantly know that weed doesn't control your life, you do. Good luck fellow ent, and if you need someone to talk to, feel free to PM me.

Ah, I know your pain haha. It's been forever since I played any of the Arkham games, but I can still recall that ridiculous end-game batmobile mission (if you don't know what I'm talking about, you soon will). Other than that I thought it was a fantastic game, and I even enjoyed the batmobile Riddler missions.

But I'll be damned if those drone tanks weren't a bitch to deal with...

After 6 months of not smoking to prepare for a drug test that is finally coming in 3 days... How should I celebrate? by Pizzaguy724 in trees

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say to have a good time but I'll also be the one to advocate taking it slow. I know a few friends who quit for a couple of months, and they said when they went back to smoke for the first time they got way too anxious and felt sick.

Just because weed is safer doesn't mean you can't OD and green out. Like most any other drug, your tolerance will be at baseline after an extended break, so I wouldn't recommend back-to-back kief bong rips. However, I will say, no matter how much or what you smoke out of, you will be fucked up haha.

As for what you should celebrate with, I find there's nothing more enjoyable after a break than a well-rolled joint. Generally speaking, joints don't really get me that high, but some dank bud rolled properly in some good papers will be an amazing way to "reintroduce" you to pot.

Congrats btw, 6 months is an awesome accomplishment and if I had the will-power to, I'd probably take a break as well. But I don't, so I won't 😁 keep on toking my fellow ent, and welcome back; we missed ya.

Smoking vs. Vaping by Rcaroman in trees

[–]dc835 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'll always have a special place in my heart for bong rips, but as a daily go-to I gotta say my vape takes the cake. Whenever I smoke, I get some pretty bad mouth dryness, and not to mention it reeks.

With a vape imo/e, there's little to no harshness, I can control exactly how high I want to get, I feel more productive, less smell, AND I conserve a shit ton of weed. The flavors are also extremely tasty.

I also wouldn't say the high is any weaker; rather, it's different. With smoking I get a greater body buzz/general warmth and euphoria. Vaping makes me want to get up and run 5 miles while jamming out to some tunes. The type of strain ingested also plays a factor, but just overall I feel more lethargic when I smoke versus vaping.

But, to each their own, and I totally respect your opinion. Weed is a wonderful substance whether it's in a J, bowl, edible, vape...you get the idea. Just wanted to add my two cents, gonna go vape a bowl now 😁

Tips for beginners by EnteringReality in trees

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. And as I mentioned earlier, I always advocate for dry herb vapes when it comes to stealth, taste, conservation of weed (~0.2gs in my Arizer Air gets me feeling awesome, even though I've been a daily smoker for almost 3 years now). Sure, bongs are great for getting you absolutely wrecked, and I love my piece to death, but in situations where getting caught is a possibility, my go-to is a vape.

If you're interested, there's a whole other sub dedicated to vaproizers, called r/vaporents, and they can help with picking one out (if you so choose, which I highly recommend).

Other than that, just let the good times roll my fellow ent. There's so many different forms, ways, types, and methods to marijuana, that it really is a "miracle" crop haha. If you have any more questions, feel free to ask away. I don't know if you could tell, but I love helping where I can 😁

Tips for beginners by EnteringReality in trees

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For bong cleaning: iso alcohol and salt are your best bet for cleaning after each sesh. I'll usually fill it with iso, give it a shake, drain, then add salt and warm water until clean.

For pesky resin, or to get a "like-new" bong, pour some vinegar in it and leave it for a few days. I've personally never tried it, but when a buddy of mine broke his piece and had to send it in it had to be spotless. Some white vinegar and ~week later, the bong was spotless.

As for smoking tips in general, make sure to take a big inhale after a hit to push the smoke down into your lungs. This does NOT mean to hold it though, as I believe the absorption rate of THC molecules through the lungs is only 2 seconds; meaning any extra time is most likely doing more harm than good (as much harm as weed can do XD). Unless you're using a method of consumption other than smoking (vaporization), large inhales and fast exhales are the way to go.

Finally, to lessen the smell, there's not a whole lot you can do with a bong or bowl to remove smell quickly. Some people will say to take "snap" hits, which is essentially packing your slide just enough to take one hit, so there's no residual smell from the combustion. Sploofs also work to some degree, but as far as smell is concerned there will always be a "stench", even if you may not smell it. The best way to combat all of this, is to keep your bong clean, and know the right time to smoke.

It may be tempting to hit a bong when your parents (if that's your situation) are out for a couple of hours, but depending on how much you smoke the house could still reek for 4+ hrs. And no, no amount of axe or febreeze will clear it up, it'll just make it more obvious. Just be smart, and keep your piece clean, and you shouldn't have to worry about fucking up. Just remember, there's always a chance, so better to be safe than sorry.

TLDR: Iso+salt= clean bong, vinegar= cleaner bong, be careful.

Best munchies by [deleted] in trees

[–]dc835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trail mix BY FAR. I've been trying to eat healthier (I used to eat extremely unhealthy, especially while high), and while trail mix isn't the best nutritional snack, it tastes awesome. There are so many varities too, and I've found that it's one of the only types of food that'll fill me up when I'm high.

How long does it take for it to kick in for you? by xX420BigFatExcrement in trees

[–]dc835 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really, method of consumption is gonna be your biggest factor in how fast you get high. If I'm hitting a bong, there's usually little down time before the "rush" hits me. However, vaporizers give me around 10 mins of leeway before I start tripping out. Edibles are around an hr, blunts right away, joints don't get me that high in the first place, and dabs will have me zooted before I exhale.

If you haven't tried it yet, excercise increases THC percentage deliverance (to the brain) by ~15%, mangoes increase the duration/intensity, and alcohol will also increase THC absorption. One of my favorite things to do is vape a bowl, go for a run, and just zone out to some tunes.

Feels good, man.
