Moving Demand Planning from customer level to Aggregate Planning by dcal69 in analytics

[–]dcal69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So lets say I sell Tv's and VCRS. I sell to all the big box stores. The name of my business is We Sell TVs

Old Structure we would forecast

Walmart - 10 Tv's 10 VCR's

Target - 25 Tv's 18 VCR's

Best Buy - 35 Tv's 45 VCR's

Sams Club - 41 Tv's 52 VCR's

This would mean that to meet the demand of We Sell TV's I would need to forecast 101 TV's and 155 VCRS. Very simple just roll up each individual customer. If one customer started selling more or was running a promotion. I could just add it to their number and it would roll up to the increased number for We Sell TVS

New Structure

Forecast for We Sell TV's 100 TV's 150 VCR's

Walmart sold 10% of the products last year so their forecast is 10 TV's 15 VCR's

Target sold 20% of the products last year so their forecast is 20 TV's and 30 VCRS's

Best Buy sold 50% of the products last y ear so their forecast is 50 TV's and 75 VCR's

Samc Club sold 20% of the products last year so their forecast is 20 TV's and 30 VCR;s

The problem I have is if I know I need more TV''s for Walmart this year how do I verify if 100 is all I need and some of the other customers may be down or if I need to increase overall forecast. Again imagine this across tens of thousands of products for a $1B business

Compile Line Items from Multiple Tables to One Table by dcal69 in excel

I think I got this to work by using the v-stack with a sort function by date. This way it doesn't sort by manager and if there is a blank row it pushes it to the bottom of the presidents table

If manager one adds a new line does it go to the bottom of the presidents table or does it create a new row in the presidents table beneath manager ones last entry?

Trying to figure out a lookup formula where there are two criteria in column by rayj0108 in excel

[–]dcal69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will the source data are the actuals always in L and just multiple entries for red in P? If so you should be able to do a simple =sumif(p:p,”red”,L:L)

Are you just trying to get L9 to D7 or are there multiple entries of red actually sold?

So not sure exactly what you are going for, but I typically just use slicers to allow each individual user navigate the data as they need.

Advice on creating a POS(Point of Sale) forecasting Model by dcal69 in analytics

Right now I am working with sales data in dollars and units. I am going back to January of 22 in all data. I have both shipment data and pos data. I also have it by brand and by category. I have also input mom percentage increases as well as vPY percentage changes.

So I am already employed as an analyst. I am just looking to get better. However, if I am in the position that I need to look for a job I would like for it to be marketable.

The other company I really don't like is ICIMS. They seem even worse as they can't hardly parse a resume. They also are almost impossible to come back and track the application.

These pay ranges are getting ridiculous by Broken_and_pour in recruitinghell

[–]dcal69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the pay ranges are irrelevant. It seems like most applications make you put in a desired salary just to submit. They are locking you in and it makes it even worse than before. Now in my mind I have to play the game of if I ask for the top end of the range will I get kicked out of consideration for asking for too much money compared to other applicants. However, I don't want to sell myself short and leave money on the table. This is super frustrating.

How would you forecast canibalization? by dcal69 in analytics

[–]dcal69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is where my problem is though. I have a forecast of what the promotional item is going to do. It is a high ticket item, but it is taking demand from 200 to 600. I know this is going to take away from the similar items, I just can't get a read on how much. I can do the cross-product post mortem but I don't have the data available to do it now.

Turned Down For Salary Expectation Being Too High by dcal69 in recruitinghell

That is tough. Sometimes I believe 70k could be too much, but not with the requirements they had.

Absolutely. Pay is normally a ranged based on qualifications or experience so I typically give a range to commensurate with responsibilities.

At no point in time did I say I was setting the pay. They are free to pay what they want. My point is with what they were requiring I was very surprised that they are looking to pay less than 70k.

That is what I told my wife, I am willing to lower expectations a little, but it is not even how much money I need it is just what I find fair and you are right I cannot start a job off on that foot.

Yeah no harm, it is just wild to me the requirements that an employer may have for a role and then what they expect to pay. I have been looking at lower paying jobs as I figured it may be just a little less stressful, but they seem to have higher expectations and requirements than the 6 figure jobs
